Rich Cimini/ESPN.com - Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie believes he's a better playmaker than more-heralded defender Nnamdi Asomugha.

New York went after Asomugha, but settled for re-signing Cromartie after the former decided to sign with the Eagles.

Cromartie flirted with the Raiders, Asomugha's old team.

"My style of play and his style of play are totally different," Cromartie said. "I feel I'm more of a playmaker than he is."

Lol, I just have to love the chip on the shoulder that Cromartie wears because of Aso. The Jets weren't going to sign Cromartie to an extension unless they failed to get Aso, so when they did they turned to their second option...Cromartie. Since then, he's been looking for ways to compare himself to Aso, and talk himself up over Aso. Very pathetic, and this is once again, a wrong statement.

Thoughts?

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. It's true, he is the better playmaker. That doesn't make him the better CB though. Everybody knows Aso >>>>>>>>>> Cromartie.

Well yeah, when the ball gets thrown your way a good amount you are going to have a chance to make plays. Nobody wants to throw near Asomugha, he is by far the better corner and like everyone else has said, if teams actually threw his way, he'd make more big plays. I think being a lock down corner where opposing QB's don't want to throw in your direction says enough.

there is a reason cro was their plan B.
Agreed, he's nothing impressive anymore. He doesn't even deserve to be mentioned with Asomugha in any way shape or form, but that's just his big mouth representing his big mouth Head Coach well.

Like said earlier, he really didn't say anything wrong. More teams are going to give looks to throw on Cro, and therefore he has more chances for picks and thus bigger plays.

Whether or not he gets more balls thrown his way, there's no question that Cromartie's a bigger playmaker. He has the ability to make more things happen when the ball is in his hands.

It's hard to make plays when you don't get thrown at.

Since 08 Aso has been thrown at only 93 times, Cro was thrown at 115 times JUST last season and 311 times since 08.

Cro is the more athletic player and has better return skills.

He's a better playmaker.

Nobody said he was a better corner.

Your right, because I surely didn't.

Don't see where your going with this?
You're bringing up targets as if you're disagreeing with me when they have nothing to do with being a better playmaker.

Lol no, I'm simply stating it's hard to make plays when you don't get thrown at very often.
