So you're telling me Marlon Bryd is a better defensive center fielder then Austin Jackson because of his higher UZR? For some reason I don't buy that..

To use only one stat, is flawed, especially when you're not backing it up and just throwing it out.
Byrd's UZR is 5.2, Jackson's is 3.1

That's a 2.1 difference in UZR, not 20.0

Eh, overachieving would be them winning the WS (or getting there)

I wouldn't consider first place in a pretty weak division as overachieving.

i see your point, but i just look at them and look at the Dodgers and can't believe the lead they have on us

expected win/loss says it should be a 3 game lead for them. i lean more towards that
not just because im a dodger fan, but man, 9 games? one thing to be in 1st but holy cow

If the Diamondbacks have as good an offense as you say, to go along with their two front of the rotation starters, I'd say their lead is just right.

as i say?
they're top 5 in the NL in like every category offensively

i definitely believe that they are a better team than the Dodgers this year, but 9 games? cmon

middle of the pack in ERA, middle of the pack in OPP OPS, given up the 4th most homers

they're really good. i wouldnt want to see them if im the brewers/braves/phils(well i dont think the phils care)

People need to stop with the "I wouldn't want to see them", not just you, most people. If you don't want to see the Diamondbacks, who do you want to play then? The Phillies, the Braves, the Brewers? Diamondbacks are the worst of the bunch. There are only 8 teams who make the playoffs (that needs to change btw) so usually they're all going to be pretty good teams unless a division is just really bad that season and has a team barely over .500 in the playoffs.

We are 4.5 games back from NY.

Only 2 back from Boston. And realistically, with the schedule we have remaining this season, I see no reason we can't pass up Boston and MAYBE New York. Both teams have been playing awful lately.

BTW, IDGAF about any stats. Jackson deserves the gold glove.

Off topic but I find it really weird and funny that a hitter went to San Diego and actually found his game and isn't looking like a total bum anymore (Cameron Maybin). You'd expect that to happen at a hitters park or something..

Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya is throwing again as he works his way back from the elbow problems that hampered him since before the 2011 season.

He won't pitch for Detroit this season, but it's a sign of hope that he might get his career restarted next season.

Zumaya will be a free agent this winter.
You can chalk him up for bout 20 nice games, then another injury ending his season.
That's if the dude gets a contract lol.

Could always see the talent was there, just raw as fuck. I mean there is a reason Florida gave up Cabrera for him.
He just blossomed a bit late.
