Also, Overthrown? I just watched the first 2 QTRs over a little bit ago.. he overthrew maybe 2 passes.. had 3 drops.. had 16 attempts total. If he had those 3 drops back he would of had 12-16 for 40+ more yards and possibly a TD.

Gabbert played well tonight. Jags didn't have much of anybody else playing worth watching tonight, so I keyed in on Gabbert pretty much his whole time in.

I'm pretty sure all Rookie QB's have something to work on after their first preseason game, especially this year with the lockout. I'm sure he knows he wasn't perfect and I'm sure he knows he's got to improve in some areas, which with more playing time, I'm sure he will improve. I'm not expecting Dalton to look great today in his first game, I just hope he doesn't look horrible. Gabbert can improve on whatever issues he had tonight, with more playing time.

it seems like whenever someone is critiquing Gabbert or the Jaguars, you take it personally.

I dont care if he didnt have Maurice Jones Drew with him, or Mercedes Lewis. Those were the areas he struggled in. Hopefully he can fix them so they become a non issue when the first teamers come in

When someone says Gabbert doesn't deserve being the starting QB on opening day, based off of ONE preseason game, I can see why he took it somewhat personally and I would too.

Exactly.

We have something special in Gabbert, and everybody knows that. It's not just on the field.. it's the way he carries himself all over. When you have that, you want that as the face of your franchise. The team, Jack Del Rio, Gene Smith, even Wayne Weaver knows the chances of Gabbert winning a starting Job this preseason are somewhat favorable. Gabbert also knows that, he also doesn't wanna create a situation like is going on with God Himself Tebow in Denver. He's allowing his play on the field to do the talking.

When you have a player like that, you don't sit him and let him watch a mediocre QB in David Garrard get mopped up and down the field. Even if this is a lost season by letting Gabbert learn as the starter. I think you take that Chance. Best way for a QB like Gabbert to learn is on the field where he can learn from the mistakes he does make on film. He doesn't need to watch film on the mistakes Garrard makes every week. If you're afraid to start the QB you have hopes for as the face of the franchise that you drafted in the first round... then you know you made the wrong pick. Even Gene Smith admitted that and said they knew whenever Byron Leftwich was a rookie they made the wrong pick and even wanted to pick Ben Roethlisberger the next year in the draft but couldn't do it.

I don't take it personal at all, I feel like you're watching a totally different game than I was however. Because I saw things totally different.
You parade around here and talk shit and claim that Gabbert is over-rated but don't have anything to back it up. The kid I saw on tape in January-April is a totally different kid now thats a QB under center for the Jags. Has nothing to do with him being a Jaguar or anything. TTN isn't even a Jaguar fan and he's pretty much said some of the same things I've said about Gabbert today. Me and him have both liked Gabbert since way before the draft, before the Jags even had a chance of getting him.

Gabbert didn't get "scared" whenever the pressure was in his face, he tucked the ball and took the sack instead of making a rookie mistake and forcing it. He also didn't get scared like he did in college when pressure was in his face (Nebraska Game) and take off running everytime. He stepped up in the pocket and scanned the field.

He had no real bad throws IMO. Like I said eariler, the dropped INT was a swatted pass while he was releasing it. Gabbert showed exactly what I wanted him to tonight and hes going to get better each week of the preseason, to the point where its going to become obvious hes the starting QB. The kid has only been in camp for 10 days, and pulled off some impressive throws and plays today.

I would think it would make it even more difficult when you are playing with second/third string guys, especially when you're still learning yourself, that can't be a good combination. But, I guess that's how you learn and it's what makes you better. (From what I'm gathering he wasn't even playing with the starters for most of his playing time).

It doesn't matter to me who he was playing against. The Pats are a good team for a reason, they have great depth on all levels of the team and thats the reason why they won as big as they did tonight. Can't say the same for the Jags which is why Mallett looked like Tom Brady and Ridley looked freakishly good. I don't expect that to carry.

Gabbert played what the Pats presented on the field as starters with some 2nd stringers himself. And Impressed.

No, I meant who Gabbert had to work with. Like not all of his starting players were even playing with him. When I watched SportsCenter I seen him getting pressured nearly every pass play.

Saw a bunch of people hyping up Ridley and Mallett both along with Price after they was facing people that will be cut in 2 weeks.

It was 19-9 whenever Gabbert left the game. Im pretty sure if we have the following and it was a real game, would of been closer.

Terrance Knighton, MJD, Marcedes Lewis, Matt Roth, Aaron Kampman, Cecil Shorts (Rookie who Gabbert in TC has attached too and the connection between the two all TC hasn't resulted in a dropped pass) and Eben Britton.

I know the Pats held out alot of starters also, I'm just saying with a full line of starters, Gabbert would of looked even better. He faced pretty much yalls starting Secondary besides a CB or 2.

Gabbert did play pretty well. Not in a flashy way, but he did improve on most of, if not all of the things we didn't like from college. So in that sense he did have a great day.

I hope Locker plays as well Saturday. I fully expect him to outshine Hasselbeck. And also in the game we get to see Ponder as well. Would like to see what he can do. Our secondary is pretty deep so it should be interesting to watch.

Im going full Gabby, for the rest of the season..

Nola, PTT, SG, Any other Gabbert haters.. Eat a dick..

SG, PTT.. Im pretty sure you've already ate a dick.
Yes, we defiantly ate a dick! A guy that completed 56% of his passes looked really good!

If we're going to pull the quote guys to try and make players look great...

Clifton Brown of The Sporting News offered this assessment: “Gabbert made a few nice throws, but he was also sacked three times and showed a tendency to hold the football too long.”

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio added this. “The good thing is I see him on the sidelines saying 'my bad, I could throw it better.'

Mike Thomas played the first series then was out.

After that the Receivers was the following.

Former 7th Rounder - Tiquan Underwood
Former 5th Rounds - Jarrett Dillard
ST Ace Only - Kassim Osgood
Undrafted FA - Dontrelle Inman

It's funny to me, because Gabbert basically made chicken salad out of chicken shit on that last drive. Would of been a TD drive if he didn't have drops from Tiquan and Zach Miller.
I'm sorry, you're playing the "the guys were drafted late" card after you were talking about how Rashad Jennings is going to be a hero after I said he was a 7th rounder. Hypocritical as fuck, much?

I mean, let's be honest here, he had some good tosses, and some not so good ones. Did he look good? I wouldn't say good. He looked good for his first game as a rookie, sure. But in the NFL, against a full team of starters, I don't think if he played like that, the Jags would be a 12-4 team like you think they'd be. He had a lot of trouble handling pressure. How many "franchise quarterbacks" do you know of that can't handle pressure? And that wasn't even against a starting defensive line...

You didn't even watch the game, if you did.. you would of saw that Rashad Jennings played really well.

Gabbert said hes always going to feel like he can improve.. he looked better than Sam Bradford did in his first preseason game last year.

He held onto the ball too long because if he would of threw it, would of been INT.. which is a smart decision. He said he needs to learn how to not take the sack and just throw the ball away. But yet, you're here to hate.. because Gabbert is a Jaguar.. sooo gtfo?

Ravens acquired WR Lee Evans from the Bills in exchange for undisclosed considerations.
It's an ideal fit for player and team. Evans was an overpaid No. 2 behind Steve Johnson in an offense ill-suited to his strengths as a vertical field-stretcher. The Ravens drafted Torrey Smith to fill that role, but the second-rounder proved to be not ready for prime time in Thursday's preseason opener. It's fair to wonder if Evans has lost a step coming off an average of 595 yards the past two years while entering his age-30 season. He's a worthwhile gamble, though, as Joe Flacco's big arm is the perfect match for his talents. Evans is back on the

Ravens should worry about Micheal Oher other than another WR.
