Gabbert looked decent, you want your QB to complete more than just 56% of his passes but that's expected of a rook. It'll be interesting to watch him grow.

Already explained the passes.

Rotoworld:
Blaine Gabbert completed 9-of-16 passes for 85 yards against the Patriots in Thursday's preseason opener.
Gabbert certainly looks the part of a franchise QB, with plenty of arm to go with ideal size and mobility. He was the victim of several drops and iffy pass protection,
Was also without MJD, Eben Britton, Marcedes Lewis, Cecil Shorts..

Gabbert will be fine.

Lmao, when did I criticize him? When did I ever say this game defines his career?

All I said is you expect a rookie to come out and have that type of game. It's not like he was playing against the talent level Mallett was playing against when he finally got in.

Gabbert faced off against 4 of NE's starters (CB Arrrington, S Chung, S Meriweather, OLB Cunningham), and i'm hoping we can get Dane in as our other OLB as well.

Gabbert did better than I expected in some areas, like his field vision, but struggled in areas that I expected, like being under heavy pressure.

Overall, it wasn't a bad debut for Blainne. But as TTN said earlier, he really needs to stay focused under pressure in order to be a successful starter. If he handle's the pressure similarly to how he did today, he may be in a rude awakening @ Jets. Even Tom Brady gets shaken up there by the croud and defense.

If pre-season even mattered, Drew Stanton would be the Lions franchise QB.

If preseason didn't matter, then in 2001, Tom Brady, a 6th rounder, may not have beaten out everone competing for backup QB, and have been cut.

Preseason matters a lot. Not for the proven players, but for the unproven, its huge

Only reason I'm anticipating pre-season is because the Browns have 4 rookies starting and I want to see them play, but that's it lol.

That's how it was for me, until Young, LeShoure, and Fairley all got hurt. FML lol.

SMFH.

You do realize Gabbert didn't have all of his starters? Correct?

Gabbert showed poise in the pocket, he didn't try to scramble out everytime somebody got in his face.. and that = improvement from his college tape.

There was a play in particular where he was about to throw it, but instead tucked it back in and took the sack. If he would of thrown in down deep where he was planning, Meriweather was baiting to jump the route. Gabbert saw that and decided to fight another day. Its shit like that is what tells me hes ready for the NFL.

I understand he didnt have his starters. He still had Mike "Im a #1 reciever" Thomas tho. And its not like you guys were facing the hardest defense in the world. You faced the Pats second stringers, and NE's defense wasnt even that great to start of with.

He happened to overthrow many of his passes when rushed, and he needs to work on controlling that. thats all im saying.

Mike Thomas played the first series then was out.

After that the Receivers was the following.

Former 7th Rounder - Tiquan Underwood
Former 5th Rounds - Jarrett Dillard
ST Ace Only - Kassim Osgood
Undrafted FA - Dontrelle Inman

It's funny to me, because Gabbert basically made chicken salad out of chicken shit on that last drive. Would of been a TD drive if he didn't have drops from Tiquan and Zach Miller.
