“The examination of Nick Fairley's foot today by Dr. Bob Anderson resulted in a diagnosis consistent with that of Lions’ team physicians that surgical correction was required. Accordingly, surgery was successfully performed this afternoon in Charlotte, N.C., by Dr. Anderson. Nick is expected to miss a significant portion of training camp.”

Who thinks the Lions d-line will be as good as it could have been? and do you think this injury will reoccur?

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts

Our d-line was already good without Fairley. So really anything we get from him will be a plus. I think he will be just fine though.

I've always said the Lions Dline was and has been overrated.

Big setback for the Lions, now Fairley is going to behind. Atleast he wont miss the regular season.

Fairley is probably going to miss the rest of Training Camp/Preseason.. which could lead to him being out of shape, and it still not healed 100% before the season. He's not going to start, and I DOUBT they just throw him out there like that with him missing reps in TC/Preseason like hes going to.

Don't get your hopes up.

if hes healthy it will be nice for the lions cause he can take up a blocker which would mean more room for suh or vanden-boesch to get into the backfield
