NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Dolphins will pursue Reggie Bush after the Saints release him.
"From what I'm gathering, the Miami Dolphins might actually set the market for Reggie Bush," La Canfora reported on Total Access. La Canfora also mentioned the Eagles and Rams as teams likely to have interest, but he was the most adamant about Miami. The addition of Bush would bode well for rookie Daniel Thomas, who would likely still dominate carries in that scenario. Bush would handle third downs and probably return punts.

Why would the Eagles also have interest? McCoy has a lot of the same attributes that Reggie has in his game and wouldn't be a very good compliment to him at all, IMO. But Miami making a play for Reggie obviously makes sense as they have some serious FA troubles in their backfield.

I still think Reggie can be a productive running back, not just as a pass catcher, if he can stay healthy and is splitting carries with a "bruiser" RB

Then again, I don't think he'll every stay healthy

Eh, okay. Except for the fact that the Saints have not indicated that they will release him. In fact, they've indicated the opposite. They want him back, and he wants to be back. Everyone in the media is portraying him as a free agent, which he is not.

Werd. Based on what I've heard from Loomis and Reggie I'll be shocked if he's not back with us next year.

The only way Reggie is not back with us next year is if the numbers that Reggie is thinking and the numbers Mickey Loomis is thinking are far far apart. But I expect them to be pretty close, Reggie restructures (not takes a pay cut, restructures and adds more years) and stays.

If anyone does it'll be Pierre, imo.
Pierre or Reggie is definitely on the outs, because I really see Mark Ingram getting a severe role in the offense this year.

Which is part of the reason I say Pierre. We've seen Reggie fit into the offense getting only like six carries per game, sometimes lower than that. He impacts the games in other ways. Pierre, he has to get touches to be effective.

The biggest thing though is his value is probably very high. He can run between the tackles, he can outside the tackles, he can catch the football out of the backfield, he can put points on the scoreboard, he is great at picking up blitzes. The biggest factor though is the fact that he's locked up long term and at a very nice price.

And the fact that really they brought in Ingram to do a lot of the things he already does. Ingram is a bruising, powerful downhill runner who can make some moves and his athletic ability sometimes gets overlooked big time. Pierre could easily by the guy to end up going if the Saints do lock up Reggie. Reggie plays to be a much better compliment to Ingram -- then it would be having two guys with similar styles in Ingram and Pierre.

It makes sense for the Saints to keep Reggie.

They're one of the best screen teams in the league, yet Nola doesn't call Brees a captain checkdown.

It doesn't appear like he'll be back however. Its obvious that hes going to have to take a paycut. Bush is just a bust however. So it doesn't matter.

If you're saying that Brees is a "checkdown" captain... That's not true. Let's compare him to say Checkdown Joe Flacco for just a second.

In American football, a checkdown pass is when the quarterback attempts to complete a short, accurate pass to a running back or tight end as a last option when the wide receivers are covered
Brees throws a lot of screen designed plays. Flacco, doesn't even look down the field, before just checking it down to Ray Rice on designed plays to stretch the field in most cases.

No, Flacco wasn't brought up but I'm just comparing what actually a checkdown pass is for you and how it really isn't fair for Brees to be classified in the same breath for checkdowns.

If he's not looking downfield wouldn't that mean that Ray Rice was his target all along and then it wouldn't be considered a checkdown...

You clearly don't understand what I am getting at. Watch the guy play. He obviously has pass patterns being run, and he looks quickly at one of them most of the time, but he just dunks it down. He does this a lot. It's not a screen pass, but it's a checkdown.

Now there is a contradicting statement, a screen pass is not a checkdown.

Oh, so the Ravens dont screen?
Sure they do, but not as much as the Saints do.

Like Mooche has already said, Flacco's passes to his backs and Drew's passes to his backs are completely different. It's not a checkdown if your #1 option is the back.

The majority of Drew's passes to his backs are designed, Flacco just checks down alot.

Do you know which plays they've ran? Mooche has said that Flacco has had people going downfield and running other routes on his checkdowns.. some screens have other positions running routes too.
