Talbot, 27, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. He made $1.5 million this past season.
In 82 games with the Penguins in 2010-11, Talbot registered eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points, along with 66 penalty minutes.
The native of Lemoyne, Quebec, has played in 388 career NHL games, all with the Penguins, and has accumulated 52 goals and 56 assists for 108 points, and 324 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by the Penguins in the eighth-round, 234rd overall, of the 2002 NHL entry Draft.
