John-Micheal Liles is heading to Toronto.

The Avalanche sent the defenceman to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Toronto's second round draft pick in 2012.
That draft pick was acquired when the Leafs dealt Tomas Kaberle to the Bruins last year.

Liles has been with the Avs for all seven of his seasons in the NHL.
Last year, he posted six goals and 40 assists in 76 games.

The 30-year-old has 68 goals and 207 assists in 523 career games.

Liles has one year remaining on his contract at $4.5 million, with a cap hit at $4.2 million

not sure if I like this trade. They just got rid of kaberle, and Liles supposedly plays like him, and has a 4.1 cap hit

I like it because we used one of the conditional picks to get a similar player.

The thing is, I hated kaberle and his style of play to begin with. Way to soft on defence.

I was iffy on Kaberle. Like I loved him and McCabe years ago, however, that changed over the past couple of years. Hopefully Phaneuf and Liles can succeed though.

I don't think Liles is as soft as Kaberle though

yea, I loved McCabe/Kaberle too.

I think they will keep Phaneuf and Aulie together, then have Liles and Schenn. Considering Schenn was paired with Kaberle, and Phaneuf/Aulie are great together.
