Tigers lead 8-1 over the Rangers going to the bottom of the 9th. Tigers have 20 hits tonight. Had 18 hits last night.

First time Tigers have had 17+ hits in the 1st two games of a series since 2001 vs. Tampa Bay.

I was pretty confident Tigers could get the series, since we cooled off the Rangers last time they were hot, but didn't expect it like this. We have their number so far this year.

Tomorrow's match up is scary though with Coke vs Ogando who is 6-0.

That's why i'm glad the series is already won. So, it's not depending on the 3rd game. Hopefully Coke comes back doing similar to what he did before DL, and they can get to Ogando. Couldn't really figure him out first time around, but second time maybe.

Finally the Indians make a move.. Cord Phelps (one of our better hitting prospects) has been called up.. Much needed.

Mets with another win against the Brewers. Jose Reyes with a 2 run triple for the win. Dude is just lights out right now and completely carrying this team. Definitely should be in the running for All Star starter, MVP, and silver slugger this year. Its amazing what he has done this year. Jose Reyes for a full year:

A few searches turned up the following old-timey facts:

(1) 27 Triples? The only modern player to hit 27 or more 3Bs in a season was Chief Wilson, who set the all-time record of 36 in 1912. (That's not the only 1912 connection for Jose, as we'll see in a moment.)

(3) 50 Doubles/20 Triples? Jose is on pace for 49 2Bs and 27 3Bs. Only Stan Musial ever had 50+ 2Bs and 20+ 3Bs in a season:

(4) 20 Triples / 50 Steals? Jose is on pace for 27 3Bs and 52 SB. Only 2 modern players have had 20+ 3Bs and 50+ SB in a season:

(5) 50 Doubles/20 Triples/50 Steals? I'll spare you another table, since those above make it clear that this particular 50/20/50 combo has never been done.

poor mets. i'd really feel bad if they dealt him...especially to SF. I love Jose's triples. he doesnt get triples like most speed guys to by hitting it down the line and watching it bounce around the wall or having the OF misplay it, he gets his by pushing to the gaps. great great player. almost forgot how good he is when healthy

I agree he is having a great season, his power numbers have significantly increase and his defense is very good. Adrian Gonzalez might have something to say about that if the Red Sox make the playoffs and end up with the best record in baseball.

I remember when the Tigers briefly had Hannahan. Seems like Capps is giving up runs just about every time he's out there, didn't hurt the Twins today though.

Nice to know we can be .5 game back after today, if we win. Although, if we don't, I wouldn't be entirely upset about it.
