Pacers beat writer Mike Wells suggests that Jimmer Fredette may not be a good fit with the team when they select at no. 15 in the upcoming NBA draft.
Wells notes that the Pacers have had enough prospects in recent times that can't play defense, and although Fredette is clearly NBA-ready, he may not fit with the team's current blueprint. He suggests that Tristan Thompson is a much better fit considering he's a tall, athletic shot blocker, and we agree that the latter would look better with the Pacers if both are still available when they pick.

Well, I mean I guess I can see his point, but I don't really think we need an athletic big this early in the draft. We can get a decent one with our pick early in the second round. We don't have a knock-down shooter, especially with Dunleavy leaving via free agency, so why not just bring in Fredette who would be the best shooter we've had since Reggie. Sorry, but I think Jimmer is the perfect fit for us right now.

Thoughts?

Well it doesn't really matter what some beat writer thinks...what matters is what the team thinks.

They can get a good athletic big in the 2nd with Lucas Nogueria.

AND Jimmer is working crazy hard on his defense right now.

He can work as hard as he wants on his defense, but his limited lateral quickness will never let him be a good defender.

You obviously haven't watched much of him. He tested fine with his quickness. Lateral, backwards, running...etc. He scored towards the top actually. Not the top, but probably top 10 out of all the combine players.

Why would Indy draft Jimmer? Darren Collison and AJ Price is a good young combo at PG.

Cause neither of them can shoot like Fredette can.

You can get shooters anywhere in the draft, why waste the first round pick on a SG in a PG's body who basically can only shoot..

You guys need to study up more on him...thats what I think. Watch videos of him playing, watch videos of him at the combine, listen to interviews...etc.

and Fredette will never be better than a guy like Collison, and Price has a very promising future also.

Collison/Price < Fredette

Yeah interviews. The Pacers should draft him because he interviews well. /sarcasm

If Indy takes him it's just the Larry Bird effect haha. He loves the whities.

+1

Larry only takes white players or signs washuped whiteys. Larry Bird Law is in Effect.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Better? Maybe, injuries derailed Price's chances of becoming a quality guard in this league. But he's still a good combo guard off the bench and I'm not sure Jimmer will ever be better than that.
