According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, the Minnesota Timberwolves will place Michael Beasley on the trade block if they draft Derrick Williams second overall.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering the depth that the team has at the small forward position, but the most interesting note is that the T-Wolves are attempting to change the "culture of the team" by executing a Beasley trade. Despite the fact that Beasley averaged 19.6 ppg last year, the former no. 2 overall pick could very well find himself with a third team in his fourth professional season.

This is going to be an interesting draft. Beasley does seem to be a great fit with the Wolves, and that's why I think it's very likely they try to deal the pick, but then again Williams might be a better talent. What teams do you guys see being interested in Beasley if he does indeed get placed on the block? And what would teams have to give up in return for him?

Thoughts?

My thing with Derrick is I'm not convinced he's a SF. He's a 4 in the league and they already have a great 4 in K-love. I'd trade the pick

You got to feel bad for Beasley. Dude has skill, just no stable place to play.

They could go Kanter at #2 as well.

Beasley was overrated in Minny last season anyway. I don't think he'll have a ton of value on the trade block.

Its hard for me to trade Mike Beasley when he's the second best player on your team... He came in and played well for a terrible Minnesota team... I think this now all lies on Enes Kanter's workout. He's yet to get a call from Washington and his Agent keeps saying he wont be available at #6. Rubio came over this year which means why the fxck does Minnesota need to draft a PG cause they're looking to ship Johnny Flynn out also... I think its interesting cause I hear Williams is a Beasley with more intangibles and writers are saying he might be the next KD. I don't know but to me anyone who comes outta Arizona usually sucks other than Iggy... I think they trade the pick to either Phoenix or Washington at the end of the day...

A "veteran big man" can only mean one guy on either the Suns or Wizards roster and that's Marcin Gortat. The Wizards big men JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche certainly don't fit the bill. Both are talented but not nearly the mature presence that one would think the Timberwolves are looking for.

The question is, who is interested? I don't think Minnesota will be able to get as good of a deal on this guy as they want.

Agreed, I really can't see many teams that'll go out of their way to get Beasley at this point

Might as well... This draft is weak... No real good prospects besides Irving, Williams, Knight, Kanter, Burks, Selby (Im interested what he'd do as a pro). Only guys I think could average 20+ a game...

I don't even think all of them will probably ever average 20+ a game.

But yeah, Wolves will have to take what they can get for him.
