Kevin McHale will walk through that door.

After a month-long search and long sessions debating the merits of three finalists, the Rockets offered McHale their head coaching position on Friday. McHale was chosen over Boston assistant Lawrence Frank and Dallas assistant Dwane Casey after meeting with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander on Wednesday to complete the interview process.

McHale has agreed in principle to a three-year deal plus a team option. Remaining detail is agreeing on a top assistant coach, defensive specialists like the other finalists, Frank and Casey.

if he gets a solid staff around him then they'll be fine.

I think this is a fine pick-up with them.

LOL yes! Shaq would be great, but I think he'll play next season, so maybe after next season.

I'm still skeptical about this hire. I think he has a career record of like 38-105 or something like that.

no hes not. im not saying hes even close to what he could have been/was. but if he can still play 20-25mpg, he'll help.

20-25 mpg for a month, then he'll just get injured again.

BTW, your record was correct. I don't where the number I got came from.

We'll see how he does but I doubt he'll last, they would've been better off keeping Adelman.

I actually like this hiring....
Though, hes only one 39 games total he does work with his players and they seem to listen.
I remember watching Bassy play under him and he actually showed up to play when he came in half way through the season.
Anyways he's a big man and they have the talent at the big man position.
There far from winning but the talent is there if he can coach them.

They won 43 games this year with no Yao and Chuck Hayes starting at center, not to mention Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola missing time, as well as other players by the end of the year. They were never healthy and ended about .500. They're NOT far from winning. Wow...
