Ron Artest of the Los Angeles Lakers has been suspended one game without pay for swinging his arm and striking the face of the Dallas Mavericks' J.J. Barea, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Artest's contact has also been classified by the NBA as a Flagrant Foul Two.

The incident occurred with 24.4 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of the Mavericks' 93-81 victory over the Lakers at Staples Center on May 4. Artest will serve his suspension tomorrow when the Lakers visit the Mavericks at American Airlines Center for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

So apparently the NBA only enforces the rule if you connect? How stupid.

Wouldn't have been as bad if JJ was taller, or maybe even shorter. lol.

No surprise. It was expected he'd get suspended 1 game.

I don't personally think Ron had any ill will toward Barea. I think he was just trying to grab him and foul him. So it happens that JJ is about 3 feet tall and Ron got him in the face. It wasn't a fucking clothesline like people are saying. It wasn't even that bad. If Ron had wanted to hurt him, he wouldn't have calmed down like he did. This isn't that big of a deal. I honestly don't like the suspension rules in the NBA.

who's he been guarding this series?
Marion and Peja?
they've been ok. they dont score much anyways

i would love to have him on Dirk more, but Phil is such an overrated coach. he at least makes dirk work. wont shut him down, but maybe bruise him and get him irritated

it's ok. 1 game. maybe the team will have some extra focus with no ron, and being on the road. lakers are a great road team

Haha naw. I was just thinking because it was around his neck/face, but if he was taller, it would of hit him like in the chest. Just everybody picking on the little guys lol.
