On Thursday, Deron Williams toured the construction site of the Nets’ future home with Billy King, the team’s general manager. Williams’s interest in the Barclays Center site is significant. He can become a free agent after next season; the arena is scheduled to open for the 2012-13 season.

“He is certainly enjoying his time with the organization,” Bob McClaren, Williams’s agent, said in a telephone interview. “They’ve been tremendous to him and they have a great plan for the future, and Deron feels like the best is yet to come for the franchise. ...

“He relishes the opportunity to help market the team to the fans and to, hopefully, free agents,” McClaren said of Williams.

“There is always great hope and opportunity for success when you’ve got a guy that can distribute the ball and make other players better. That’s what Deron Williams does so well.

“That will make the Nets organization very attractive to free agents, and that style of play will be attractive to the fans. The possibility is there to do something really special.”

Williams has a lot of options here, and this definitely doesn't lock in that he'll stay with New Jersey, but I think it's making him lean towards it. I've been saying all along that I think he'll go somewhere else, but now it's starting to seem like he wants to stay with the Nets. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Thoughts?

You've been here for less than a week, and I've never seen you comment on DWill or the Nets in general.

No shit, sherlock. But calling the Barclays Center a "Baller's Paradise", and asking where the Nets' bench will be, are just some of many indications that he might be sold on the organization.

but now it's starting to seem like he wants to stay with the Nets.
He never gave any indications about wanting to leave. Not one. Unlike a certain three time defensive player of the year who plays in Florida.

Unless we royally fuck up in FA this year, he will sign. Guaranteed.

He has even begun his search for a new house in the area.

Perhaps the most key quote:

I would like to not have the distraction (of looming free agency) during the season.

This is very good news for the Nets. You know they'll be luring a big time FA to pair with Deron soon enough anyways.

Alot of people said the same thing about Chris, but the only free agents we've attracted have been the likes of Mo Peterson, James Posey, etc. The difference is obviously Brooklyn and New Orleans, but like I've said a million times, who really believes that the players will want to play second fiddle to Melo and Amare in New York, New York?

Nobody is playing second fiddle, especially since the Nets would be better than the Knicks if they got Dwight to pair with D-Will

Did you completely ignore my last post?

As for nolafan, who clearly will never understand:

Second fiddle would be the Clippers sharing an arena with the second most storied franchise in the league.

Not the Nets playing in a different borough of NY than the Knicks, who are 14-18 with Stat and Melo.

Dwight and Deron would attract so many bandwagon fans, it wouldn't be funny.

Teams are playing second fiddle to other teams all over the country.

The Hornets play second fiddle to the Saints.
The Texans play second fiddle to the Cowboys.
The Clippers play second fiddle to the Lakers.
The Falcons play second fiddle to Georgia.

I can go on and on, all day. If your in the same general area, in some cases the same state, unless it's a very rare circumstance, somebody is playing second fiddle.

The Nets ran NY during the Finals years and the VC/Kidd era, as far as the media (and to an extent, the fans) goes.
The Mets ran NY in the 80's...

Nothing is guaranteed, and once the Nets hit Brooklyn, it's a whole new ballgame.

In New York, the least successful team will play second fiddle. I think we can agree on that.

New York will always be Yankees, Knicks, Giants, and Rangers.

Knicks will always be New York's team

We've won like 17 out of 22 title games that we've been in.
You're like 16 for 46.

(numbes are approximates)
