I did some number crunching, and this is what I came up with:

12.5 points and 11.3 boards- EAST
7.5 points and 6.8 boards- WEST

That is what he averaged per game against the playoff teams from each conference. I've said it before, Mek is a Eastern Conference center, not Western.

I've heard the Hornets will look to move him this offseason, and hopefully that's true.

I think he is a real solid player defensively...don't know who they could get that would be better.

I don't get the contract talk. Sure, it's a big contract, but if you want a quality center that's what you'll have to pay him.

I guess if you really want to move your defensive tower that's fine. He's not that great offensively against the West, that's true, but at the same time 6.8 boards isn't that bad either. He's a defensive stopper and that's what he does against the West. Good luck trying to move him with that contract though.

Good luck moving Okafor without including CP3...

I really don't understand the contract talk. It's not bad for a center, it's about the norm for a quality center in this league. Does anyone have any idea how many bad contracts the Hornets moved during the offseason? It only takes one team, and when the player is good, well it makes finding that one team a whole lot easier.

Be happy you've got him. Who's going to replace him? Seriously?

nola, im not sure you're understanding it

sure, teams have traded for players with large salaries... but they are really good players. The quality of players they would have to give up to match the contract isn't worth it to that team unless they are getting Paul too

Nah, I don't think you really understand. Like I've said, quality centers cost alot. Name me one quality center that isn't getting paid out of the ass? What is Marc Gasol going to get this offseason? Your former C just got nearly 9M per year, and Okafor brings alot more than Perkins does, meaning he'll get paid more.

Look, I'm not saying he'd be easy to move. But in a world when NBA contracts are getting worse and worse, and NBA owners/GM's are handing out free money every offseason to undeserving guys, saying someone wouldn't take a legit 14/12/2 guy in the Eastern Conference and only having to hold onto him for three seasons is ludicrous. Somebody will say, "hey, this guy can help push us over the edge." I mean, Dallas, WC, traded for a 13M dollar center in Tyson Chandler AND signed Haywood to a $55M dollar deal. Memphis throwing 66M at Randolph says alot too.

Centers are to the NBA what QB's are to the NFL. It's the most overpaid spot.

I see a little bit on why you compare them to QBs but the comparison is off.. Centers are just overpaid because there are very few good ones, and when you find anyone who is serviceable you have to overpay to get them.

I'm just comparing in terms of pay.

Serge Ibaka is averaging 10.2 ppg, 11.0 rpg, and 4.8 bpg in these playoffs, and is being payed $1.2 mil

That's a terrible comparison bosox. He's playing on the 24th picks rookie payscale. This is the first year he's getting paid more than 900,000.

If a team wanted a center, they would call for Ibaka way before Emeka. Thats what I'm getting at.

And they'd have to give up a ton to get him, he fits the Thunder perfectly. They could probably use a inside scorer, but with him and Perk defending the paint their frontcourt defense is incredible.
