Interim coach Frank Vogel will get the first interview for the Pacers' head coaching position.
Vogel certainly deserves it. He turned the Pacers' season around after Jim O'Brien was fired by getting Roy Hibbert's and Darren Collison's confidence back. He also put Tyler Hansbrough and Paul George in the starting five to help build the team's future. We'd be a little surprised if Vogel's interim tag is not removed.

He'd be the right fit for us. He's a young coach, which would be great to see him grow right along with all the young players. The right mindset has finally come to the Pacers, and that is play hard, leave everything out on the court and at the end of the night the very least you'll get is the knowledge that you did your best. He motivates the guys, and in a few years, this Pacers team will have the opportunity to be something very special if they keep growing at the rate they have been. We just need some good free agents, and the development of young players, which Vogel can help with both.

Thoughts?

Why not just promote him to head coach and skip the whole process?
It is obvious they played great for the dude.

I agree that we shouldn't even entertain other options. That being said, who knows where he wants to take the team in the next few years. I think bringing in guys like Adelman and Mike Brown and people of that sort is what Bird wants to do to see if anyone brings more of what he wants to see as well to the team. That being said, Vogel is going to get the job, there's no doubt about it in the minds of Pacers fans.

If anything I just think it lowers Vogel's confidence. He led them to a playoff seed and is being repaid as just being an option.
I mean personally, I'd be feeling pretty shitty lol.

I don't think he even cares what they do. He knows he's going to get the job I have to believe, and he won't let this make him feel any less confident. If you watched this guy coach every night, then one thing he doesn't lack is confidence.

Well maybe confidence inside himself in his coaching abilities, but maybe not confidence that the organization is behind him 100%.
Not taking any other interviews would give him full belief that they are behind him.
