The Knicks are considering a two-year extension for team president Donnie Walsh, with the matter expected to be resolved in the next two weeks, a source told CBSSports.com’s Ken Berger.

Walsh, 69, has an option for the 2011-12 season to be exercised by April 30, but the more likely scenario is a two-year extension that would keep the architect of the Knicks' revival at the helm through the critical next phase of the rebuilding plan. If the option is not picked up, Walsh's contract expires June 30.

"It's basically going to be Donnie's call whether he wants to come back," said the person with knowledge of the organization's intentions
Glad to hear all the Isiah talk die down, hopefully this is true because Walsh has done a great job turning this team into something respectable again, its only right he finishes what he started.

Their gone, and we have Melo

last I checked Denver struggled too, no goto player to close out in any of the games vs OKC

It took your Heat a while to get it together, so to expect our team to play like they should after 25 games and 1 practice a week, is ridiculous.

I know, I said without Walsh, you'd have those guys, who you were better off with.

You had a go-to guy before you got Melo in STAT. He isn't gonna hit a game-winning 3 for you, but if you need 2 points you're confident he'll get it done.

The Heat roster is also a lot better than the current Knicks roster on paper. LeBron and Wade are the two best players from either team. Then Melo and STAT, then Bosh, then Chauncey. Our role players are also better than yours.

Without Walsh there wouldnt be a Felton or Gallinari on the Knicks in the 1st place

It wasnt his call, Dolan made it happen, Im sure he like most of us wanted to wait until the off-season to sign Melo and lose nothing.

As for the last sentence I dont know what that has to do with what I said about yall struggling the first 20 games or so, but yall had summer TC's to work on chemstry, we had practice once a week after 60 something games had passed,

I was tryng to show you that when you have 1 or more superstars, it takes time to get chemistry going, not only between the 2 (Melo & Stat) but with the whole team, everyone'e roles becomes re-defined.

How did this become a discussion of which team is better? Nobody ever said we were better then you on paper. We outplayed your team in the only game we had against you with Melo, but that was when you guys were struggling again, so I don't really count that as us beating you. We know you guys have a better roster. You had more time to piece it together. Derrick Brown, Anthony Carter, Jared Jeffries, Roger Mason, Ronny Turiaf, Shawne Williams and Shelden Williams all expire this off-season. Only people who deserve to come back imo are Shawne Williams and Anthony Carter, both for their defense even though Williams is a good 3-point shooter as well as being a good defender. Derrick Brown was a wasted pickup, Jared Jeffries can play D, but he lost Game 2 for us by getting nervous on the offensive end, Money Ma$e... Meh, he barely played before the Melo trade, Ronny Turiaf is not as good as he was before the Melo trade, and he wasn't amazing then either and Shelden Williams is no more then a body to fill the lane. We need to figure out a way to sign J.R. Swish and a center. Tyson Chandler to be a FA and if he tests, we need to snag him. Another good choice would be Greg Oden if we can keep him healthy or even Yao Ming if we keep him healthy. Both of these guys, even if they only play about 60 games, if they play great in those games, could make a big difference for this team.

What's not similar? You guys struggled when you first got your team together and everybody doubted you, but you had a whole season together so it was easy to fix it up, even though above .500 teams raped you guys this season. However, we had 28 games to be exact, to get our team to work together so everybody is doubting us, we had no chance to build team chemistry and Chauncey has been more of a china doll then Matt Stafford. :(

I never compared us, roster wise. It was chemistry wise.

I said it took yall a while, like it would have taken us a while to get chemistry together.

Its 1 game but it has something to do with what we're talking about right?

So dont try to downplay it, wanting it to seem like it was nothing.

the knicks showed they still need a TON. you guys still arent "respectable" but ill say he did help a lot and youre on the way to becoming a "respectable" team once again.

ill also add in that walsh did NOT want to pull the trigger on that trade.

BRING BACK WALSH! campaign begins today btw.

I'm not one to make excuses, so this is not an excuse for why we got swept. I feel like this team rode with Carmelo's quote of "The Celtics didn't do anything special, they won at home. Now we're going home." and they relaxed too much at home. We fought in both games in Boston and fell asleep in both Home games. I already said what I feel like this team needs to do to become a legit contender, and I'm standing by that. We honestly don't even need Chris Paul, we can find a guy who can do the work at the PG position for much cheaper, because unless CP3 loves Melo and STAT enough to take a paycut, I don't know if he'll be a Knickerbocker in 2012.

We needed Billups on the floor bad, the offense looked HORRID games 2-4, no sense of direction at all

We need a defensive big, willing to serve as the last line of defense, and rebounds well... DeAndre Jordan fits that mold well.

We need a dead eye sharp shooter at the wing

Billups is good for now at point, but eventually we need a younger PG to take over cause Douglas isnt starting material, best coming off the bench for his scoring..

And a new Head Coach, was never sold on D'Antoni and watching the Celtics run the same damn play.. either the off the ball screen to free up Ray or PP are the pick and pop with KG... its obvious the reason he doesnt coach defense is because he cant

I know if Walsh comes back, D'Antoni will most likley be back also, but Im sure he sees it too
