Deron Williams as a Net:

15 PPG
13 APG

Deron Willams for the season:

20.1 PPG
10.3 APG

Chris Paul for the season:

15.8 PPG
9.8 APG

8 >>>>> 3
CP3 also carried an otherwise mediocre team to the playoffs, just saying. I think they're pretty even.

Forgot to mention that CP3 averaged a full 1.3 turnover per game less (huge for a PG), is a better defender, and just had an awful year scoring the ball.

Like I said, it's close, but I give my vote to CP3.

PER Rating: CP3 23.7, Deron 21.1 (17.0 in NJ)

Lol, homer. It's close but CP > DWill

CP shot a better percentage, in a off scoring year.
CP shot a much higher three point percentage.
CP shot a higher free throw percentage.
CP pulled down more rebounds.
Deron handed out .5 more assists than Chris, in two more minutes per game.
CP doubled Deron in steals per game.
CP averaged more than one less turnover per game.
CP averaged less fouls per game.
CP had a higher eff rating.
CP had a higher per rating. (CP is 6th overall, Deron 20th)
CP had a higher ts%.
CP had a higher assist ratio.
CP had a lower turnover ratio. (much lower)
CP had a less usage %. (so he's doing all this, while being used less? damn)
Deron had a higher offensive rebound rate.
CP had a higher defensive rebound rate.
CP had a higher rebound rate.
CP had a higher value rating. (548 to 375)
CP added nearly six more wins to his team.
CP is a better man to man defender.
CP is a better team defender.

and maybe most of all, CP elevates his teams play more than Deron. CP led his team to the playoffs, something Deron wouldn't have done in Utah, with a better supporting cast I might add. The only thing Deron had going for him was assists, but even that isn't rightfully his. CP nearly averaged the same in less time, and averages more assists per 36-48 minutes.

I'd love to have either player on my team lol

And I think D-Will might be the better defender, but I haven't watched enough of CP3 to really decide

CP3 is the best PG in the league, period. And if he somehow gets back to what he did in the 08/09 season, he's easily the second best player in the league.

I don't think he'll ever get back to that TBH, hope I'm wrong though.

nola, didn't you say something awhile back about CP's knees and that you'd be happy to see him go if you could get a nice return for him?

Cp3 is a beast, I think its very close. I feel that Cp3 is a better ball distributer but Deron is a better scorer. Either one I would love to have. Every year it goes back and forth, one year Cp3 looks better the next Deron looks better. I also disagree that Deron had a better team in Utah, than Cp3 with the Hornets.

Even pre-injury CP3 was never the defender Deron is. Some people like to claim that Paul is a better defender. However, when push comes to shove, Paul is more of a gambler/flopper who doesn’t hold his ground or track his man around screens as well as Deron does.

Utah went on their big skid right after the trade. They went 8-17 during that stretch, including an eight game losing streak.

Devin is still one of my favorite players, but Utah made a huge downgrade at the PG position, that sent them into full rebuild mode.

Yeah, inside the organization it's viewed that sometime in the next two years he'll need a pretty big surgery that could really hurt his play. I think it's like a Brandon Roy or Amare surgery. The Hornets feel he could come back better as ever, but the surgery could also ruin him. I guess it matters how good of a job the surgeon does. I will admit, things look a whole lot better now than they did a few months ago. There was a stretch where CP couldn't get into the lane and he'd have like 4 points and 8 assists as his final stat line.

What I don't think alot of people realize though, and even I took this for granted in the heat of things, is that Monty Williams and Dell Demps (GM) both grew in the San Antonio system. Under Coach Pops and all those guys. That's how the Hornets are running this organization from top to bottom, a perfect clone to San Antonio. In SA, and now New Orleans, you don't use every ounce of energy during the regular season. You save a good bit of something for the post season. Monty did a masterful job with this roster, and he totally understood what he had and didn't have.

Chris has been battling injuries pretty much since he came into the league. Now with the knee issues, he had to play within himself at times this season. I think that's where I got caught up. But he had to, so he could be "healthy" for the playoffs. Chris's heart says to play 100% at all times, and in past seasons he has, and he's broken down and it's showed in previous post seasons. Somehow, and at somepoint, Chris learned to slow it down during the regular season, and it has helped his health now. He's not worn down like we've seen in previous post seasons, he feels like he could play another season. Chris is about as healthy and energized as he's been in years, probably since the 07 season before he wore down in Round 2 vs San Antonio. It showed in Game 1, and I think it'll show in Game 2.

You act like Deron is some all-league defender. They're both good defenders (not great), but due to their size they both play different styles of defense. I think Paul pre-injury was definitely a better defender, and now that he got injured the debate is now back open. However, i think Paul still holds a slim margin.

And like I said, Paul doesn't turn the ball over nearly as much as Williams does, which is huge. Paul's peer rating is MUCH better than Williams.

Chris Paul pre-injury was 22.8 ppg, 11 apg, 5.5 rpg, 2.8 spg. He probably wasn't the 2nd best player, he was THE BEST player in the league.

I wouldn't go that far. He's probably #7 without the injury.

1. Kobe
2. LeBron
3. Durant
4. Wade
5. Howard
6. Rose
7. Paul

^ IMO.
Without the injury he's better than Rose, I don't get why your so hyped on Rose. He's a great player sure, but he still has a lot of growing to do. I'd also put Dwight higher, he's grown this year.

Since everyone talks about Deron's wrist slowing him down, why is CP3 on one knee on important. He had a knee brace on him, you couldn't expect him to be god.
