There will be changes in Detroit when Tom Gores officially takes over as owner of the Pistons.

One thing that won't change, however, is the man in charge.

According to a source close to the situation, Pistons president Joe Dumars will keep his gig -- even after the ownership change.

Gores, a billionaire California investor, agreed to buy the team Friday. He's expected to be approved by the NBA and take control of the franchise in June.

Dumars has been team president since the 2000-2001 season and won an NBA championship in 2004. In 2002-2003, Dumars, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006, was named Executive of the Year for the Pistons (28-51), who will miss the postseason for the second straight year.

It's been seven years since Dumars landed Rasheed Wallace in a trade-deadline deal. It was the missing piece that enabled the Pistons to win the NBA title and has served as Dumars' biggest get.

But the pending ownership transition caps a more recent, tumultous turn of events highlighted by a public feud between veteran guard Richard Hamilton and coach John Kuester.

This should go over well.

Seems like Gores doesn't want to come right in and clean house, which I can respect that. BUT when he finally gets a clue about this team, changes need to happen.

I said this at some point earlier, I'm giving Dumars ONE more chance.
With Gores in, he might have some more flexibility to actually put together a team. But if we show no improvements next year, I am going to be raging lol.

he didnt have to sign Gordon and Charlie to those contracts though

as it is, he got pretty lucky
not even he thought Ben would be that good
Rip trade was ok, but they probably would have been fine with Stack
Chauncey was never that good, he took a chance and got lucky
the sheed trade was nice
drafting Tayshaun was nice, but he's had his share of not so good picks

everything else was meh.

Yea, its time for the Pistons to move on with a new gm. Dumars will just hold the team back from moving forward with new young players.
