Watching him in junior, I thought he could definitely be one of the top goal scorers in the NHL.

He's only on pace for 48 goals and the last time a player has won the Rocket with below 50 goals was in 2003-2004 when Rick Nash won it. Since then, Ovie, Crosby, and Stamkos have won it in the last 3 years.

I'm not sure what your point is. You said "Who would have thought Perry could win the Rocket?" And I said that in junior I thought he could be a future Richard winner. Whether he wins it with 48 goals or 50 is irrelevant because he still gets the trophy which is what I said he could do someday.

My point is that the main reason is he winning right now is because the other top 3 or 4 goal scorers are struggling or hurt.
