PHILADELPHIA -- The Detroit Pistons have spurned the Dallas Mavericks' efforts to acquire small forward Tayshaun Prince -- at least for now.

The Mavs offered the Pistons swingman Caron Butler and a 2011 first-round pick for Prince before today's 3 p.m. deadline, according to a person close to the situation.

Butler is out for the season with an injury, but he has an expiring deal, so the trade, basically, would be Prince for the pick. Prince also has an expiring contract.

With Dallas' good record, the pick would be late in the first round, and the Pistons believe that Prince is more valuble in a sign-and-trade scenario. Despite reports to the contrary earlier this week, it is highly unlikely Prince returns next season.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the Mavs' offer.

The person close to the situation said the Pistons haven't given up hope of making a move before the deadline.

Would of been great for the Pistons to free up some cap and get a pick for some more youth. They need to trade away their veterans and build a younger team imo.

This deal would of been FUCKING perfect.

Caron is out for the year, so he doesn't take time away from the young dudes. He gives us CAP flexibility still. And we get a 1st rounder for a young talent. In the meantime making the team worse and getting us a better draft pick.

Dumars your are the dumbest mother fucker, I swear. Stupid fuck.

DET and CLE negotiated down to wire on a Rip Hamilton trade, but fell apart when Rip wouldn't accept buyout terms with Cavs, sources say.

DUMARS IS A FUCKING PATHETIC PIECE OF SHIT. Who the fuck cares if Tayshaun has been here his whole career. Get his dick out of your mouth, you fucking moron. That deal would have been perfect. We get an expiring and a pick back, EXACTLY what Davidson said to trade for. And why would Cleveland want Rip, just to buy him out? I don't quite get it. Nonetheless, FUCK RIP for that. Who the hell cares how much you have to get back, stop being so damn greedy you prick. Why would he not want to get out of here? Now he gets to sit his ass on the bench for God knows how long before we figure out what to do with him. What an idiot. Speaking of greed, Davidson needs to sell Gores the deal, NOW. So he can fire Dumars' ass and make us all proud.

/end rant

I guess Cleveland wanted Rip, but he didn't want to play for him. So they were just going to buy him out.
But it's not Rips fault at all. I don't blame him. I blame the idiot who decided to pay him the amount he did. Without him, we wouldn't be in this terrible situation.
Fuck Dumars.
Worst general manager in sports.

Well Millen is no longer a GM, so Dumars takes the crown lol.
Followed by Dumbrowski.

2 of the worst GM's belong to Detroit <3
When Millen was around we had the worst 3.

Like I am so mad to know that Prince and Rip were BOTH that close to being out of Detroit.
The rebuilding process could of finally begun. WOW.

"We worked right through the deadline, and there was simply not a deal that we felt good enough to execute," team president Joe Dumars said.
Clearly cause the Mavericks didn't offer us Dirk. SMH. Come on Dallas. Prince is the second coming of Jesus, you HAD to include Dirk.

Whenever I'm having a bad day, I go through the Dumars files and check out some of the things he does. Always puts a smile on my face to know there's owners and GMs out there this dumb.

This is like making a cat chase around the flashlight shining on the wall. You make them see it, thinking they can get it, but right when they reach for it, you move it, and you know no matter how much they try, they will never get it.
