cheato, im not judging college players. i just said it's a weak draft. and shitty, but im not calling out the players. you said yourself, it's weak. no harm no foul

and anyways, you guys are missing it
yes the clippers gave up a draft pick. they never do that. if they dont even want the pick, it tells you something

this is a weak draft class. sure it's a top 10 pick potentially, but they dont need another young player. Blake/Bledsoe/Gordon/DeAndre/Aminu. thats a young potential starting 5 right there.

the money saved will give them enough to lock up Gordon who will be a restricted FA
it shows the clippers are sold on this team and ready to start building a winner around their core. and go ahead and say no star will sign with them, but the west is weaker and if next season Griffin and Gordon continue to improve, the team is still in L.A. guys, they could become an attractive spot...

and they still have Kaman's expiring for next season to play around with.
it's a good move

and for the cavs. sure. another draft pick. baron is going to be disastrous if he ever even suits up, but i guess it's worth it. after next season he'll be an expiring and maybe he can reach a buyout (doubtful)
They didn't make this trade for a potential free agent class.. They made it because Sterling is the cheapest owner in the NBA. No one wants to play for him. And you're acting like the Clippers are this smart team that only makes good moves.. They traded the top 10 pick because Sterling wanted to cut costs.

This is honestly a slam dunk deal. We got a lottery pick because we took someone from a team... And we can do it again on draft day with our TPE.

Hopefully we can pick up a combo like Kyrie Irving and Harrison Barnes, or something along those lines. Maybe pick up a late first and go Perry Jones/Jared Sullinger - Harrison Barnes - Norris Cole

Also according to some people, Baron and Scott patched up their relationship a while ago.

Byron said he and Baron kissed & made up last preseason, was "touched" that Baron approached him to apologize for N.O. behavior. #Cavs
But I'm gonna miss Mo, regardless of his playoff failures.

^no other team would take baron
There is no reason to trade Baron, you don't sweeten a deal where you're only moving someone because of there salary with your top-10 pick, that's terrible management. The Clippers are still going to be destined for another million years of futility with this guy at the helm

Well it definitely showed a difference in ownership and how they work.. Two rebuilding teams make a trade. One takes on money to help the rebuilding cause with a top pick, the other is just looking to cut costs.

If I'm a Cavs fan I'm rejoicing though. Mo Williams can't guard the chair I'm sitting on...

sterling is cutting costs, but he'll spend

Kaman, Dunleavy got huge extensions
Maggette, Brand too.

he seems sold on this team. i read that he likes the draft process and did not want to give up a pick. he gave their new GM (or VP or whatever he is) some rope

this is a long term move.

Baron is still 32 years old, and has missed a ton of games since he got to L.A. he's missed about 25 games this season alone, including last night with a "sore knee"
it's worth giving him up
Mo is a FA after next season

Clippers are going all in, and good for them. they are going from rebuilding, to actually building a contender
"phase 2" i guess you can say

and again. it's a risk worth taking. this draft is supposed to be weak

Sterling isn't afraid to spend, you're right, but when he does, he spends terribly, because he's dumb.

You don't trade away a top 10 pick and call it a long term move...you use that pick to bring in a big-time player, not to move a bad contract.

How are they going all in? They traded for Mo Williams...

I don't understand how you can defend this move, take the Clippers goggles off.

im looking at it like this

they can package a guy like Aminu with Kaman's expiring for a guy like Granger or Iggy (just naming names for sake of example, but before you guys start going nuts, it's actually out there. im not talking out of my ass)

it's not going to be a dumb decision to lock up Gordon and Griffin will it?

more future talk. the clipper plan is to go get a big time wing player, and go after CP/Deron in 2012. again, go ahead and laugh. But if the clippers have a good showing next season, in this suddenly less talented west, they are going to be intriguing. it's not like they're in Memphis or Indiana, they're in Los Angeles. sure it's doubtful, but they're going to have money is the point. it's worth it for a damn draft pick man. how many young players do they need at once? and one more time, in a weak draft, go ahead and take the risk.

look, the knicks have been a joke the past 10 years and are having their plan set up. clippers are giving it a go

it's somewhat risky, but i really dont think it's a bad deal
i think some of you are looking to much at the face value

They could lock up BG + EG even if Baron's contract, considering you can go over the cap to sign your own guys, but Blake is leaving IMO anyway. Yeah, it's a weak draft, but that's because it's not deep, it's top heavy. Kyrie, Sully, Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes, Derrick Williams, Terrence Jones, Enes Kanter, Josh Selby, Brandon Knight, etc...

No top free agent is willingly going to want to play for Sterling, regardless of what city the Clippers play in. Not to mention you'll always be 2nd fiddle in LA. They aren't getting CP3 or Deron.. Clippers don't run plans, they just do whatever.

R.I.P. Baron to Blake. You had a good run. It was short, but it had it's moments.

I could see CP3 or Deron (more Deron) going to the Clippers. They have a young nice team, plus who wouldn't want to play with Blake????

Good trade for both sides i would say. no one's going to cleveland so they might as well get a nice pick as well as Baron who i wouldn't mind having on my team at all.

@Mexi, I think it's kind of a bad comparison to compare the Knicks re-building to the Clippers re-building. The Knicks got Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups... The Clippers got Blake Griffin ( draft ), DeAndre Jordan ( draft as well right? ) and Mo Williams? o_O Big difference. Clippers still not a playoff team, and I don't think they're headed in the right direction losing that draft pick and getting Mo Williams.
