Uhh...we're a playoff team. Not like we're the t-wolves
I know, what Im trying to say is that some teams on the schedule you just need to beat. One example is when we play the Thunder, thats a team and should have the mentality and having to always beat us. You beat up on lesser talented teams, you know where Im coming from?

The Nuggets will acquire four traded player exceptions in their Carmelo Anthony trade with the Knicks, one of which will be the largest ever.

Denver will essentially trade the contract of Chauncey Billups for the contracts of Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and Wilson Chandler.

The Nuggets will receive traded player exceptions for Renaldo Balkman, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter.

The traded player exception for Anthony will be worth approximately $17.15M and is greater than any other in NBA history.

Denver will also acquire a traded player exception worth $1.675M and two for $854k.

The Knicks will not receive a traded player exception from Minnesota. Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph are absorbed by the Wolves using their cap space and by sending Corey Brewer to New York in exchange.

Teams can use traded player exceptions in trades to absorb salary without sending comparable contracts in exchange.

The Cavaliers, Raptors and Jazz received substantial traded player exceptions during the 2010 offseason when they participated in sign-and-trade deals involving LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Carlos Boozer respectively.

According to Donnie Walsh, Carmelo Anthony was set to sign an extension before the end of the current collective bargaining agreement. And he apparently would have agreed to do so with the Nets as part of an extend-and-trade transaction between Denver and New Jersey.

"I don’t think it would have happened, getting Carmelo [in free agency], because he would have signed an extension," Walsh said.

David Aldridge reports that Anthony was letting it be known, just prior to completion of the trade with the Knicks, that he was headed to the Nets.

"As late as Monday afternoon, Anthony was telling people he thought he was heading to New Jersey, since the Knicks were holding onto center Timofey Mozgov," writes Aldridge.

So, as it turns out like gmf was saying, it was trade for him or bust for the Knicks.

If that was truly the case then I can understand the trade a little better.

Melo should have just waited though... not like he wont get the money he could have missed out on in endorsments, etc...
