And now all the haters come out of the woodworks, as will the frontrunners. The Knicks set out to get Carmelo and they got him so lets analyze the deal. Wilson Chandler wasnt going to be resigned and thats a fact, they were going to use that money to sign Melo. Felton was on a 2 year contract for a reason, and Billups has a buyout this year, so that cancels each other out. So its Danilo, Mosgov, 2014 1st rounder which will be shit by then, and 2 2nd rounders. Thats not a bad deal at all people.

Everyone laughed at the beginning of the season that the Knicks would be able to get Melo with the team we had at the time, that says something about our coaching staff to build up these guys value so much that we were able to make the trade. I find it hilarious that NOW they are considered very valuable pieces, lol. Now we get some respectability because we have star players to build around which will attract a variety of free agents and thats just common sense. The Knicks only have three contracts on the books past the summer of 2012: Carmelo, Amare Stoudemire and Reynaldo Balkman. Thats so much cap space and endless possibilities to build the remaining pieces of a great team since we arent tied down to hefty contracts.

Now for the Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Deron Williams sweepstakes!!!

exactly. And there's no guarantee he woulda been a free agent. He could have been franchised if there is one in the new CBA, but he also told the Knicks during their little pow-wow on Thursday Night that he needed to get that $65M, whether it was with the Knicks or Nets.

You don't let players like Raymond Felton and Timofey Mozgov get in the way.

Wilson Chandler still had a qualifying offer left on his deal. Now here's the kicker, that qualifying offer was barely worth 3M. That's a fantastic price. Now your telling me that:

1- 3M would have helped sign Melo? Come on...
2- The Knicks wouldn't pick up a 3M qualifying other and:
+Looked to trade him and get something in return
+Tried to resign him to a longterm deal

Billups/Douglas/Carter
Fields/Mason Jr/Azubuike/Rautins
Anthony/Brewer/Williams/Balkman
Stoudemire/Williams
Turiaf

Do I have that right? I'm sorry, but that team will have NO defense, NO interior defensive threat, NO rebounding. They'll win some games because of Billups, Anthony, and Stoudemire. But I really believe they had a better chance at advancing past the first round in the playoffs before the trade. Now the team is filled with nothing but two superstars who don't want to play defense, a 34 year old PG, and a bunch of scrub wing players.

Well Mike D'Antoni does have experience with teams that had no defense. I honestly liked where the Knicks were going but I think this fucks them over. Just my personal opinion.

I agree with your opinion lol

Seems like to me the only thing this trade does is maybe sell higher priced tickets, merchandise? It won't make them better on the court.

the bulls getting noah bag will show how good they are.
Noah coming back really only helps defensively, he's not really a threat on the offensive end, and that's where the Bulls need the most help. They already rank as the #1 defensive team in the league IIRC, but their offense is ranked like 17th. The Bulls are definitely a good team and I've had them as the #3 or #4 seed in the East since before the season started, I just don't think they're as good as Miami is.

once again, this trade has nothing to do with making them better this year. They'll find the right pieces through draft and free agency.

As for C, they're PROBABLY going to sign Earl Barron. Not much help, but its something.

Well I'm going to miss seeing Gallo and Felton play but hopefully this move is for the better of our team. Only time will tell if this trade was worth it or not.

I think Brewer is more of a SG. But he may be forced to playing SF more with that roster.

Nobody wants to talk about the Nuggets???

Felton/Lawson
Affalo/JR Smith
Gallo/Chandler
Martin/Harrington
Nene/Mozgov

That seems like it could be a real decent line-up.

I'm also excited for Curry and Randolph to be out of NY finally.

Unfortunately, Felton isn't going to be nearly as good playing in Denver as he was playing in New York's up-tempo, PG friendly offense, I feel Lawson would be the better option to start, especially since he's gonna be their future there.

That may be true, but I think Felton can do real well with them.

Denver views Lawson as their PG of the Future and there's speculation that they're trying to flip Felton before the deadline.

felton wont be as good for denver but they look solid after this trade.

and ill again say this, trading for a player to help build a superstar team with si stupid. banking on cp3/deron is really dumb. this trade is only getting the hopes up for knick fans.

I'm gonna channel my inner BC right now and say what he's been saying since the season begun. In a special New York Knicks edition.
