1. Carolina Panters: DaQuan Bowers, DE, Clemson - The Panthers have a need at just about every position on the team. Defensive line is probably the most glaring. I don't see them taking Fairley due to some character issues that have arisen recently, so they'll go with Bowers, who is probably the most valuable pick they can make with exception to maybe Patrick Peterson.
2. Denver Broncos: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn - Denver is making the transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense next season. Denver drafting a defensive player is probably the closest to a sure thing you can get in the draft this year. They will likely be losing Bailey, so cornerback is a glaring need, but this years draft is very deep at corner. Character concerns aside, I dont think Denver would pass up on a talent like Fairley. When he's putting 100% effort, he's virtually unblockable. He would be a welcome addition to the putrid Broncos defense.
3. Buffalo Bills: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M - Maybe a bit of a surprise pick here. Buffalo definitely needs help on the offensive line, and could really use a quarterback, but I don't think there is an OL or a QB worth taking this high. Newton or Gabbert going here wouldn't surprise me, but I don't have a top 10 grade on any tackle this year. Buffalo had one of the worst pass rushes in the league last season. Miller seems to be the flavor of the month, and had a HUGE senior bowl week. I think the hype will continue to grow. Especially when he puts up the impressive numbers he's capable of at the combine.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: AJ Green, WR, Georgia - Honestly, I really don't think this would be the best pick for the Bengals. Green is just one of those prospects that you don't want to pass up. The Bengals will surely have a need at receiver after Ocho and TO are gone, but I feel they have greater needs at more important positions. QB comes to mind if Carson continues to be a little bitch. A guy like Dareus would be a better pick for Cincy as well. AJ Green is a great player, and the Bengals and their fans will be happy with him. I don't think it's the best pick for them in the long run, though.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU - The Cards have a blatant need for a quarterback. I just don't see them taking one with the 5th pick. Whisenhunt is already considered to be on the coaching hot seat by some. If you're on the hot seat, you can't afford to risk you job by bringing in a rookie QB to run your team from day one. I think they'll probably look to fill the void with a veteran through FA or trade. (Kolb possibly. Maybe McNabb). So instead they will take a guy that I consider to be a can't miss prospect in Peterson. Peterson is probably the best cornerback to come out of college in a decade.
6. Cleveland Browns: Robert Quinn, DE, UNC - Cleveland will be making the switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3. The pass rushers Cleveland currently have on the roster is laughable. They need all the talent they can get in the front seven. I could see Dareus here for sure considering they axed Rogers. It will be interesting to see how high Cleveland (or any other team for that matter) is on Quinn after a year out of football. There was no question about the guys talent when he was actually on the field. He was arguably a top 3 prospect entering the season. I could also see them pairing Amukamara with Haden to make one of the best corner duos in the league. Several different directions they could go.
7. San Fransisco 49ers: Marcell Dareus, DT, Bama - Interior defensive line is probably the biggest need for Frisco. I think they would be very pleased to see Dareus fall to them. Harbaugh is a traditional football coach. I don't see him going with either of the QB's. Both Gabbert and Newton will not step into a west coast offense and produce right away. Amukamara could also be a possibility.
8. Tennessee Titans: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Mizzou - The Vince Young experiment is over in Tennessee. I see them looking for a replacement. Newton is very similar to Young, so I don't see the logic in taking Newton. Honestly, I don't see why they would want Gabbert. He is also pretty similar to Newton. Gabbert to Tennessee seems like the pick a lot of people are going with though.
9. Dallas Cowboys: Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal - Dallas doesn't appear to have many huge needs to fill. They could use an offensive lineman, but like I said earlier, none of the tackles are impressive to me this year... how Dallas may feel is a different story, but hey... This is my mock. Jordan was absolutely unstoppable during senior bowl week. I could see him playing DE in a 4-3 or sliding inside. In this case, he'd be playing the 5 technique and will add another very talented player to an already talented defense.
10. Washington Redskins: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn - As a Redskins fan, I would absolutely hate this pick... at first at least. I would probably throw shit across the room and disown my Redskins fanhood. Then a couple weeks later I would probably come around to it. This just seems like it's going to happen. We all know how stupid Snyder is, and how much he loves the big names. We have a void to fill at QB, but we need front seven help more than anything. I could also see Julio Jones potentially.
11. Houston Texans: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska - Prince will not fall past 11. The Texans pass defense is among the worst I've seen in years. Luckily for them they don't have many other glaring needs, so they'll look to pair Prince with Kareem Jackson to kickstart a very promising secondary.
12. Minnesota Vikings: JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin - With Newton and Gabbert off the board, they're out of the running for the only two upper tier QB's in this class. Minnesota needs a competent defensive end opposite Jared Allen, and with Everson Griffen using police tasers as part of his offseason training program, he won't be much help. JJ Watt is a guy on the rise, and I think he could make a very solid LE for a team early in his career.
13. Detroit Lions: Nate Solder, OT, Colorado - Detroit needs a cornerback worse than any team in the NFL. Unfortunately for them they finish just outside of the race for the only elite corners in the draft. I could see them making a slight reach for a guy like Brandon Harris or even Jimmy Smith, but with the depth at corner this year, I think they can afford to get their guy in the second round who wouldn't be a major dropoff in talent from a guy like Smith or Harris. So instead of reaching for a guy, they go with arguably the top tackle prospect in the draft to fill a big need on the offensive line. Perhaps Solder can help keep Stafford alive a little longer.
14. St. Louis Rams: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama - If Jones is still on the board at 14 is there really anyone that believes they will go in a different direction? Every mock I have seen has St Louis getting Julio Jones here. This one will be no different.
15. Miami Dolphins: Aldon Smith, OLB, Mizzou - This is the toughest spot to predict so far in this mock. They certainly need quarterback help, but I just can't seem to find a justifiable reason they would take any of the QB's on the board here. Ricky Williams and Brown could both be gone next season, so running back could also go here... That's what I'm seeing from several mocks at least. For the sake of this mock, I'll just assume that they do bring back Ronnie Brown. I really have no idea what they plan on doing at RB. The Dolphins also desperately need someone opposite Cam Wake to rush the passer. Smith would do just that.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brandon Harris, CB, Miami - I could see them reaching for Kaepernick or Locker here, but that doesn't seem too likely. They could also use some help at defensive end with Kampman coming off another ACL injury, and Harvey being hot garbage. I have them going Corner here though. The Jaguars secondary is pretty poor. Mathis is the only notable player and he is on the back nine of his career at this point. It really would come down to who the Jags are higher on. They could just as easily take Jimmy Smith over Harris.
17. New England Patriots: Tyron Smith, OT, USC - Smith's stock has been rising VERY fast lately. One of the finest athletic specimens you will ever see playing offensive line. Pats will be losing Matt Light to free agency and should be looking to shore up the left side of the line. Front seven will be a big priority for the Patriots as well, but they have (I think) 6 picks in the first three rounds to play with.
18. San Diego Chargers: Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa - I can see Clayborn being an effective player as an end in both the 3-4 and 4-3. San Diego needs a defensive end opposite Castillo. Cesaire will be a free agent. I'm seeing a few people considering rush linebacker as a need, but I don't really see it. I doubt they will give up on Larry English so fast.
19. New York Giants: Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA - The Giants are in pretty good shape overall in the sense that they don't have any major holes to fill. They have a good core of talent which explains why they usually draft pretty late. Keith Bulluck will enter free agency, so I am sure OLB will be one of their top priorities entering draft day. Ayers is one of the more versatile linebackers available in the 2011 class, and at 19 it is a pretty good value pick. I have seen him go as high as 13. Offensive line is another possibility here.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue - It is no secret that Tampa will more than likely go defensive end with this pick. It is a safe bet that they will go with whichever one is the highest rated on their board. Kerrigan is the highest rated of the remaining DE's on my board as of right now.
21. Kansas City Chiefs: Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor - I guess you could consider this the surprise pick if you don't know much about Taylor, but I would consider putting him higher than 21 if any other teams had a huge need at nose tackle. Taylor dominated the senior bowl much like Raji did a couple years ago. He earned himself a lot of money that week. Guard and Tackle are two needs that KC will need to address as well.
22. Indianapolis Colts: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois - The Colts have been looking for a legitimate defensive tackle since Corey Simon dropped off the face of the earth. Liuget would fit in nicely with the Colts defense. I can also see them grabbing any one of the offensive tackles still floating around at this spot.
23. Philadelphia Eagles: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin - Philly surrendered 50+ sacks this past season. Among the leagues worst. They'll need to shore up the right side of the line for sure, or maybe even replace Jason Peters who is vastly overrated. The Eagles will also look to grab a corner. Jimmy Smith could be an option.
24. New Orleans Saints: Muhammed Wilkerson, DT, Temple - Wilkerson is an underrated prospect by many. Some people may consider it a reach for him to go in the first round, but he is a very talented player and should be a welcome addition to a Saints team that could use anyone with a pulse in the front seven.
25. Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Castonzo, RT, Boston College - Jake Locker seems to be the popular choice here, but I don't like to go with the blatantly obvious all the time. I can see the Seahawks taking Castonzo and playing him opposite Okung. They will have a very young tackle duo with a lot of potential. Locker, Pouncey or a cornerback could all go here and I wouldn't be surprised.
26. Baltimore Ravens: Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado - I don't think Baltimore has a legitimate cornerback on their roster. Foxworth is average at best, and he's coming off of a huge knee injury. If Smith or Aaron Williams are here when the Ravens pick, I can't see them not taking a cornerback.
27. Atlanta Falcons: Derrek Sherrod, OT, Miss. St. - Defensive End is probably the Falcons most pressing need, but I don't see one remaining that should go this high. Same could be said for outside linebacker. I see them taking the best available tackle to help the right side of the line unless they decide to make a pretty big reach for a guy like Bailey.
28. New England Patriots: Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia - Outside of Tackle, a Rush Backer is probably the Pats biggest need to fill this offseason. Justin Houston is the last remaining first round caliber prospect at OLB, and I can see the Pats jumping all over him here.
29. Chicago Bears: Ben Ijalana, OT, Villanova - Everybody and their brother knows the Bears are in need of offensive line help. J'Marcus Webb isn't exactly a book end tackle. Ijalana is a very experienced and durable lineman for Villanova. Never missed a game in college. If he doesn't work out at tackle, he could slide inside without much trouble.
30. New York Jets: Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State - The Jets could use help at just about every position in the front seven. Shaun Ellis enters free agency and will likely need to be replaced. Heyward has top 15 talent, but is very inconsistent. He showed a lot of his potential in the bowl game, and probably solidified himself back in the first round. With a good combine, he very well may go higher than 30.
31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Pouncey, G, Florida - Surprise! I'm sure nobody expected this pick. Sarcasm aside, this seems to be the consensus choice for Pittsburgh if Pouncey falls to them. Not necessarily because they got Maurkice, but they have a legitimate need on the interior offensive line, and Pouncey is easily the best guard prospect in the draft. The Steelers have virtually no needs to fill. They could improve at corner, but they are in really good shape right now.
32. Green Bay Packers: Allen Bailey, DE, Miami - Right now, Bailey is nothing more than an athlete playing football. An INCREDIBLE athlete, but he is a pretty large project. I've watched Bailey in every game he's played in college, and there is no denying his physical skill. He has never been properly coached. The only thing he knows how to do is try to beat his man with his strength. A couple years of proper coaching and teaching him a decent repitoire of pass rush moves, he could be a force in the NFL. The Packers will likely lose Jenkins via free agency, and will have a need to fill at defensive end. Christian Ballard is another end they could take.
