@JasonLaConfora - Free agent DL Shaun Rogers tweets he will finish his visit in KC today and then head to New Orleans to meet with the Saints
I think he still has something left in the tank, and apparently so does PFF.

You know what I’d hate if I was a quarterback? I’d hate not being able to step up into my throws. It’s why guys like Ndamukong Suh and Tommy Kelly are nightmares for offensive coordinators. They push interior lineman back, get up the field and prevent quarterbacks from doing what they want to do. It’s why these same offensive co-ordinators hate Shaun Rogers.

So how do I know they hate him? Well I did one of my fun little studies. I looked at our numbers and saw how much a defensive tackle rushed the quarterback. Then I looked at how much pressure he got. And you know what I saw in Rogers? A guy who in 272 pass rushes got to the quarterback for three sacks, 12 hits and 15 further pressures. That kind of ratio was third best among all defensive tackles who played more than 200 snaps.

Better than Haloti Ngata. Better than Kevin Williams. Heck it was even better than my man crush Kyle Williams.

I’m going to drop an “E” bomb: those are “Elite” numbers, and Rogers continues to be an elite pass rusher.

Take our grading system for example. We’ve been going three years now. Want to know the pure pass rushing grading for Rogers in that time?
I have to admit, I haven't really followed Rogers. But if he wants to win, why would he go to Cincy? He doesn't think he's a great fit for a 3-4, so why would he go to KC? From that view, he has to be the Saints to lose. If we can land him, and PFF is right (not sure if they are or not), then the Saints front four could be a force.

Chiefs play a 3-4 right?

The article I read before posting this said one of the problems in Cleveland was that he didn't fit the 3-4.

Even if he doesn't consider himself a great fit, he is. He just didn't bring it 100% all the time, which you need your NT to do in the 3-4. When he actually gave it his all he was an unstoppable force. Just needs to stay healthy and play harder, which I'm sure he would do for Romeo, most players like him.

Why would he go to a 3-4 team if he doesn't think he's a great fit? I'd think if he doesn't think he's a great fit, he'd rather play a 4-3. Not to mention he really wants to go to a winner, and the Saints have become a winning franchise under Sean Payton.

This is really just me thinking out loud, like I said I haven't really followed him.

It really depends in this situation. The guy is a bit of flake, I can't deny that at all, but maybe this kind of change of scenery and a new found motivation playing for a good team could change him.

That's always been Rogers fault. He never goes 100% for an entire season. He half-asses a lot.

As said, He rarely goes 100% but when he does it's crazy. Like that pick 6 that i'll always remember where he sat out pretty much the rest of the game because he was still catching his breath. Granted, he never expected to run 66 yards, well tumble 66 yards, and he can't do that again, without a lot of help, but I think he could still help out somewhere.

Werd, I think if we get him though and he's on a winning team then his efforts will increase. I'd actually like to see us pick him up, he's still got some left in the tank and a line with Sedrick and him manning the middle would be great.

He's not anything anymore, just a name of what he once was back in 2008. He's nothing now than a stop gap player at best. People act like he's going to come in and just completely dominate once again. Sheesh.

If what I've heard is true, I have a hard time believing Rogers will be signing anywhere. Supposedly, I won't even tell you what type of contract I heard he wants (its ridiculous), but this was pretty much the meeting with the Saints.

Mickey Loomis: So how much do you want?

Shaun Rogers: I want to sign for _________.

Loomis: How much?!?!?!

Rogers: ________.

Loomis: Thanks, but no thanks.
