Anyone who's ever seen a Washington Huskies game, in the past 4 years, knows exactly why Locker never compiled the statistics his abilities should've awarded him. Even in his last bowl game as a CFB quarterback, Locker couldn't buy a fucking catch. Terrible school during his tenure, garbage for receivers, and instability in the coaching staff.

Locker doesn't have Cam Newton's speed and he's no "freak of nature" but he has the arm strength, accuracy, was a 4-year starter, and above-average in moving around inside and outside the pocket. Not to mention...pre-snap reads & 5 step drops are something Cam Newton doesn't know the first thing about.

Locker hasn't really looked very "accurate" from what I seen. He doesn't impress me, at all. Yeah his receivers are dropping balls, and his O Line wasn't all that great either, but from what I seen from his games, Senior Bowl practices, he just can't make NFL Throws. He's a project, like Cam Newton.

I agree with everything except the accuracy. Locker couldn't piss in a toilet even if he was standing over it.

Another thing you overlook is the fact Cam goes against SEC Defenses, toughest defenses you can go up against in all of CFB.

Doesn't matter...what Cam went up against in the SEC is nothing remotely close to what he'll have to read in the NFL.

I'm so sick of the "SEC" bullshit..

How many of the top 10 QBs are from the SEC? Peyton? Not sure.

Nah I know that, I'm saying Cam had to face much tougher athletes, and defense than Locker.

This "Pro style vs. spread offense" shit is just something people are going to have to get over.

Spread formations are becoming more and more prevalent in the college game. If you're looking for a QB that played in a pro style set, you're probably only going to find one decent QB in the entire class.

That doesn't equate to much when you compare the two. I'll say SEC > Pac10 any day of the week but that doesn't change the fact that Locker is way ahead of Cam when it comes to be able to run a pro-style offense. A pair of Newton's biggest concerns, or inexperiences, are footwork and reads. Cam didn't have to do either while running out of the gun all season...while Locker has ran out the pro for the past 4 years.

Locker ran the spread for two years until Sark took over.

TBH, IDGAF about that shit anymore. I mean, if a guy has all the tools, is smart and intelligent, he'll be able to pick up the offense. Look at Bradford. There are some acceptions to that of course, if the offense is like Georgia Tech's, or to the point the QB doesn't need to make ANY reads.

I'm not saying he is, just in general. Like for Kaep's or Gabbert's situation.

Goodluck to Newton. Saw a bunch of teams have him as their "top QB"

Speaking on ESPN Thursday afternoon, analyst Trent Dilfer called Auburn QB Cam Newton's Thursday media day workout "one of the most phenomenal personal workouts I've ever seen."
"If scouts saw this they'd have been slobbering," added Dilfer, who called Newton a "dynamic athlete" and "incredibly impressive." Dilfer praised Newton's refinement, accuracy, and arm strength while proclaiming the "sky is the limit." Newton's measurables have never been in question, so it's hardly surprising that he excelled in a controlled environment. It is a positive sign, though, that the tutoring on his footwork and acclimation to working under center have paid off. It now seems likely that a team with a top-five selection will fall in love Newton, but his character concerns and football acumen will still be scrutinized over the next two months.
