Detroit is keeping Rip glued to the bench to avoid a potential injury before he gets shipped out of town, but the paying customers want to see him out there. The Detroit News reports: “But so was the ‘We want Rip!’ chant from the fans at Monday’s holiday matinee game. It wasn’t particularly loud, and since it didn’t come until there were 2.8 seconds left in the first quarter, it’s hardly what you’d call a groundswell. But such is the level of fan apathy with this Pistons team at the moment: Most of them are too bored to be angry right now, though I suppose the fact that this was “Kids’ Day” helped soften the message Monday. And Hamilton? Yeah, he looks and sounds as bored as ever, a three-time All-Star sitting on the bench, waiting for a three-team, 15-player trade that’s stuck in limbo. He’s neither gone, nor forgotten, try as everyone might on both counts. ‘It’s something they wanted to go with,’ Hamilton said Monday, after he’d earned a ‘DNP - Coach’s Decision’ for the fourth consecutive game. ‘It’s out of my control. I’m just here. I show up. And I do what I’ve been doing for the last nine years, and that’s coming out and being professional and trying to help my teammates.’ That’s his version of this sad comedy, at least. It ignores the obvious insubordination we all witnessed earlier this season, and everything — from the backbiting to the ‘buffoonery,’ as Tayshaun Prince so accurately put it last week — that has gone on with this passive-aggressive bunch the last few months. But really, all that’s irrelevant now, because it’s obvious that Kuester is done playing Rip, and vice versa. There are no games left to be played here, clearly, and everyone’s ready to move on, just as soon as that Russian billionaire can convince Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets to play along with this blockbuster deal they’ve hatched.”

I really don't see why they wouldn't wanna play him

I hope Rip can get out of there. He should not be going through this.

I was watching the game when I heard that chant and it made me sad. He's been there all this time and for him to be treated like this? That's messed up.

At least he won't have to sit through it much longer...

Troy Murphy has been told to go nowhere near a gym until the deal is completed.

Mikhail Prokhorov just announced it at the press conference.

Pistons coach John Kuester says he has reached out to Richard Hamilton, who has been held out of the team's last seven games.

He didn't say how or when, but Kuester told the media that he tried to make a connection with Hamilton.

"We made overtures and one of the things that's important is he is somebody that's on our team now," said Kuester.

"We know that and we've reached out to him. I'll tell you this right now, like what I said before; we're searching and we've got a nice run right now with the players that we have and they've done a real good job and unfortunately somebody had to probably be out of the mix right now. But that doesn't mean you're going to totally be out of the mix."

Hamilton might be needed and Kuester will need to mend fences with Detroit's injuries and a trade not on the horizon.

Nothing Rip has done in a negative manner has ever reached the media, so it seems pointless to sit him like a diva player. I have no idea why Kuester is doing this to him. Detroit is just bad...why not play your best players?

There has been little trade interest in Richard Hamilton, who hasn't suited up for the Pistons since Jan. 10.

Detroit was hoping to send Hamilton to New Jersey as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade that fell apart earlier this month. Teams like Boston and Dallas appear interested in Hamilton, but only if his contract is bought out.

The guard has two years and $25 million -- $21.5 million guaranteed -- remaining on his contract.

The Pistons are still trying to trade Richard Hamilton, but ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that they are having no success.

Hamilton hasn't played since Jan. 10, when rumors picked up that he could be going to the Nets as part of a blockbuster Carmelo Anthony trade that has since fallen apart.

Detroit is also trying to make it known that they don't plan on moving Tayshaun Prince prior to this month's trade deadline.

How is the selling of the team going? Wasn't that supposed to happen in February?

Langlois wrote of Hamilton:

"He had not responded to requests to talk, by both Joe Dumars and John Kuester, as of late last week, since being taken out of the rotation. He has been given many chances to sit down and talk about his current situation."

wowzers. fuck dumars and rip, and kuester. and the team.
