According to Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox have been looking at acquiring OF Jose Bautista from the Jays.

Talks have basically stopped with Boston signing Carl Crawford, but if the Sox somehow are able to move JD Drew, they still might be able to work something out.

I would say no unless we get a replacement in the OF for him and if we can get a prospect pitcher.

Hopefully we can move Drew, but I don't see Bautista coming to Boston.

thats another reason to why the trade will most likely not resurface much....
If Boston got it done earlier, TOR would not have traded Vernon

Not necessarily. I think the Jays trade Vernon no matter the circumstances. Whenever you have a chance to get rid of a contract likes Vernon's, which was not worth it, and I don't think any player is worth that, then you do it. We got an outfielder in return too. Maybe not as great as Vernon but still average.

even if this happened i dont see why the jays would have kept verons contract.
