Cutler Has Sprained MCL

I said last night that Jay Cutler is missing that 'edge' as a starting NFL quarterback and I think that's a huge reason why such an injury would force him out of such a crucial game. Is Jay Cutler the first NFL key player to suffer a sprained MCL in a playoff game? Hell no...but I'd be willing to wager that he's one of the first to come out and stay out of the game. Again, I look at how fucked up Favre was, all game long, 2009 NFC title game...or even T.O. basically ignoring all doctor's opinion and risking further injury, because he wanted to be on the field for the Super Bowl. These are true competitors, guys who won't let sprains or slight tears keep them away from competing in a game of this magnitude. Is Jay Cutler a pussy? No...but he's not a guy I'd be too confident about in any big game and there's obviously no adrenaline pumping through this guys' veins.

I believe that Jay is soft, he's too nonchalant about his business, and he has one of the shittiest attitudes I've ever seen in such a spotlight. Caleb Hanie gave the Bears somewhat of a spark but c'mon...how the fuck do you not see Raji's fat-ass standing 3 feet away from your check-down receiver? Hanie has some potential, he had a great pre-season, only to be further buried down the Bears' depth chart, once the season began. That plus what the Bears invested in Cutler and the embarrassment that is Todd Collins...I think it's safe to say that the Bears totally fucked up their situation at quarterback.

I can agree with most of this, except the last statement... Jay will be just fine in the future, if Jerry Angelo could actually build an offense around him. You honestly think Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett, and Matt Forte scare people? No... Yes, Forte is a hell of a player and Knox and Bennett are serviceable, but they are not striking fear in an opposing defense. The Bears have no play makers on offense and until they pickup that #1 such as Brandon Marshall like Cutler had in Denver, there offense isn't going to be as effective as it could be.

Yes... This goes against everything I've ever said about the Bears offense and that the players they have are just fine. I was wrong, they need that #1 WR to win it all.

Also note that it was Love Smith who pulled Jay from the game... Now I know people are gonna say he could've fought to get back in or whatever, but we all know that's not Jay's personality, so that's pretty much the end of the story.

I'd also like to point out that Brian Urlacher use to be in the group of people that believed Jay Cutler was a pussy. I don't know if anybody remembers the story about Urlacher and former teammate Bobby Wade in Vegas, where Wade said Urlacher called Cutler a pussy after hearing about the trade, but after watching Urlacher defend him yesterday on the podium, I'd definitley say he had a change of heart after actually seeing the way Jay plays and practices all year long. The guy obviously has a bad reputation around the league, but the people close to him know the truth and what is actually going on.

Jones-Drew Retracts Tweet About Cutler's Toughness

NFL.com - Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew said he never meant to take a shot at Bears quarterback Jay Cutler or question his toughness.

Jones-Drew said Monday that his tweet comparing Cutler to former Florida coach Urban Meyer was merely a joke.

"Hey I think the urban meyer rule is effect right now... When the going gets tough........QUIT," Jones-Drew posted on his Twitter page during Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Jones-Drew has received death threats and plenty of ill will from Bears fans.

"I never attacked him, called him soft or a sore loser," Jones-Drew said. "I never questioned his toughness. I think people took my joke out of context. I was taking at shot at Florida fans."

Jones-Drew acknowledged that Cutler's injury was serious enough for him to leave the game. When Jones-Drew sent the tweet, he was unaware that anything was wrong with the quarterback.

"All I thought about was being in that position, being in that game," Jones-Drew said. "I've never been in a title game, so my first thought was, why wouldn't you want to play in that situation?"

I know it was the NFC Championship game.... The guy was hurt, if he thought he could have continued, he would have. I don't think it's right to question his toughness, I'm rather certain he didn't like standing on the sideline watching a third string QB lead his team one game away from the Super Bowl. Why risk further injury that could be career threatening? They wouldn't let him back in and that's that. People can speculate all they want, the guy did a good job for them all year, he didn't stay out because he didn't feel like playing. Call him a baby, call him whatever you want, he was injured and didn't belong in the game.

The Bears chances were better off with Hanie anyways. Why play hurt and kill the team? Mise well let a guy come in that's healthy and make a name for himself. This has all been completely, totally been blown out of proportion. Burn his jersey because he didn't go out and play when he couldn't?? Come on. What do you want the guy to do? Kill himself for the rest of his career? Could he have still came out and played? Probably. But I can tell you it wouldn't of been worth it, he would have hurt the team more than helped. That guy has been beat around all year, the offensive line was literally disposing him every Sunday but they did improve. So one thing I can assure you of, he's far from being a baby. With the beating he took this year, half of the QB's would have been knocked out weeks ago. Man people are too judgmental, Yes, I understand a lot was on the line and you do whatever it takes to get your team the win.

ESPN.com - Maurice Jones-Drew isn't going to apologize to Jay Cutler for questioning the quarterback's toughness via Twitter last month.

The Jaguars running back wants to move on from the controversy he and several other players created during the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 23.

"If I did something wrong I would apologize," Jones-Drew said Wednesday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000.

"I didn't mean any hard feelings by it. I think [Cutler] understands that as well. I really think that the media took it out of control and got offended by it because players said it before certain media said it."
