Carson Palmer will ask the Cincinnati Bengals to trade him and will contemplate retirement if he does not get his wish, according to several sources.

If I were the owner of the Bengals, I would gut the whole organization...I think it's time for them to clean house. Keep a few guys like Leon Hall, Gresham, Rivers and a couple others...and just rebuild from the ground up. New coaching staff and all.

That probably won't happen any time soon though.

I'm sure Gabbert or Mallet could play just as poorly as Carson did last year.

Actually, they could go out and get a young QB like a Josh Johnson from Tampa Bay. That's what I'd do atleast.

Cincy needs a change, and I'm not talking about the OC. Either Marvin had to go, or Carson. Looks like it'll be Carson.

I'd rather watch Horse Racing on Sunday then watch Josh Johnson leading the team.

It doesn’t appear the Bengals, coming off a 4-12 season, feel the need to make improvements.

That might have something to do with Palmer’s desire to leave, although he has four years and $50 million of base salary left on his contract (how bad must Palmer want to go if he’s going to leave THAT much money on the table?).

And what will Cincinnati do without Palmer if he’s dealt or retires, considering backup QB Jordan Palmer – Carson’s brother – is not a starting NFL quarterback? Well, the Bengals have the No. 4 pick in the Draft, so they could take a QB there, or they could grab a veteran free agent like Marc Bulger for a short-term solution.

But losing Palmer is a big deal, and no matter how mediocre he’s been the past two seasons, this is bad news for the Bengals.

Couple updates on a few things.....

Palmer angry with Mike Brown!

Chris Mortensen and Adam Scheffter of ESPN, have both been reporting that Carson Palmer is demanding a trade and that he is willing to retire if he doesn't get one. We've been on the phone with our contacts inside the Bengals front office all afternoon. Here's what we've found out for sure:

While Carson has not spoken with the team directly since the end of the season, his agent, David Dunn has been. He has talked with Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis about the direction of the team and changes that he thinks are needed. We are told that #1 on the list was a new offensive coordinator. When Dunn was informed that Bratkowski would be returning for 2011 and that only a possible consultant would be brought in, Palmer became infuriated at the unwillingness to make changes. While he has not technically demanded a trade, he has instructed Dunn to ask the Bengals to explore trade opportunities. Our sources say that they have heard nothing about a possible retirement, but everyone in the building is very aware of Carson's displeasure with Mike Brown at the moment. We will stay on top of this situation and have more for you as we get trustworthy information!

Our sources have told us that their is a 90% chance that Mike McCoy will be named OC for the Cleveland Browns. If this is the case, then Childress is in play for real in Cincinnati. Then the battle of Mike vs. Marvin will take place to determine what Brad's role will be. If I were Chilly, with everything that's going on, I'm not sure I would even want to come here!

With Carson, Chilly, and Mike vs Marvin situations heating up, things are about to get very, very interesting! Let's hope Marvin gets his way and Chilly becomes OC, which also means Carson will stay put! Trust me when I tell you that my 2 sources inside the Bengals front office are just as frustrated as the fans are! When I speak with them lately, they just sound deflated.

We have just learned that Carson will be putting out a statement this week to address this situation. It is said that he will attempt to defuse the current tension by announcing that he has made no decisions on his future and that he will wait and see what happens over the next few weeks. He will also state that no demands have been made, only the exploration of different possibilities. If our sources are correct as they usually are, then this tells me Palmer does not want to go public with the current situation, which I can respect. But, I think the time has come for him to go public, he is a class act and I'm not surprised he wants to handle it this way.

Mike McCoy has already been retained by the Broncos, over coming here. Not sure how it is a 90% chance he comes here.
