This was an interesting find...

Bengals Win The Reggie Nelson/David Jones Trade: No Draft Picks For Jacksonville
Earlier this year on September 4, the Cincinnati Bengals sent cornerback David Jones and a conditional draft pick to Jacksonville in exchange for the 21st overall draft pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, safety Reggie Nelson. And it made sense for the Bengals, especially in hindsight.

David Jones was so awful with Jacksonville that he was removed from the Jaguars defense from week eight until he played a handful of snaps during the final game of the season. Before then, Jones received significant playing time, even starting five games. He allowed two touchdowns, picked off a pass and allowed an opposing quarterback rating 114.6.

In return, the Bengals benefited with a decent return in Reggie Nelson, who would eventually fill in for a depleted secondary.

According to Pro Football Focus, when a pass was attempted towards a player that Reggie Nelson was covering, the quarterback generated a 30.4 passer rating. Along with two interceptions and four passes defenses, Nelson allowed less than a 50% of passes to be completed when quarterbacks targeted the player he was covering. Nelson didn't play defense until midway through the season, with his first defensive snaps coming against the Atlanta Falcons. Along with a couple headache-producing hits towards the end of the season and a display of knocking heads with the best of them, Nelson also made at least five stops either at the line of scrimmage, or a loss or preventing a third down conversion on third-and-short.

Even so, the conditions that would have sent Jacksonville one of Cincinnati's draft picks weren't met, according to Geoff Hobson. Nelson played in all 16 games, starting six and taking 496 defensive snaps. Either way, the moral of the story is that Cincinnati will have their seven draft picks for 2011.

Happy to see this because the Jaguars got the bad end of the deal in this trade. Also not getting any draft picks now. Nelson played really well for us while the player we traded to Jacksonville was sitting on the bench for his poor play. I was happy to see we get all seven picks in the NFL draft this year.

Meh, I wouldn't be praising Nelson as of right now. He saw limited time. Just wait until hes a starter, goodluck.

What did we lose? Nothing. He was good depth at safety for our depleted secondary.

Well the Jags didn't exactly lose anything either, since we was just going to cut him. We got a solid depth CB in David Jones.

David Jones is horrible. Why do you think it says - David Jones was so awful with Jacksonville that he was removed from the Jaguars defense from week eight until he played a handful of snaps during the final game of the season. Before then, Jones received significant playing time, even starting five games. He allowed two touchdowns, picked off a pass and allowed an opposing quarterback rating 114.6.

That shows how great he is right there, I'm so thankful we got rid of him, especially for a guy that made big plays for us on defense all year. Am I saying Nelson is a starter for the Bengals? Probably not, but I've liked what I've seen, so far. Always around the ball making big hits.

LOL. Nelson and big hits don't go together.. he did that one hit on Tolbert and all of the sudden hes a "big hitting safety".

I never said David Jones was a starter, and he wasn't pulled because he was bad.. he was the Nickle CB the rest of the year. He was pulled because Derek Cox finally got healthy. The 2 games Jones started he faced Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. No wonder why his rating was 114.6

I'm glad we got him and he's finally playing. Great team to finally start playing for. He didn't JUST make a big hit on Tolbert, he had several others but you wouldn't know because you were watching the Jaguars every Sunday. I know you hate the guy, but I don't, so keep hating.

I actually saw the Chargers game, and another game at the end of the season where Reggie was starting. I watched him alot. I don't hate Reggie just to hate him, I actually liked the pick whenever we drafted him. He had a good rookie year, but always kinda blew alot of coverages and never really could tackle good. He got worse as more years came. You'll see next year.

Well, Mike Zimmer won't put up with it so he'll either be doing his job or sitting on the bench, it'll be his choice. I'm pretty sure he won't be a starter anyways. He was just good depth for us, and played well, when he did play. Even if he played poorly in Jacksonville, I'm still going to give the guy a chance, sometimes a change of scenery helps. I'm not saying he's going to become the best safety in the NFL, he just did what was asked of him this year and did well, therefore have no reason to hate on that guy until I have a reason to and hopefully I won't.

Knowing Reggie, you more than likely will.

I'm just glad we didn't lose a pick through the draft like we were going to, a 6th round pick. Might come in handy in the end, we need it. I don't like losing any draft pick, so I'm happy about that.
