Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells agrees with public perception that he's overpaid.

He is now in the fourth year of his seven-year, $126 million deal.

"I think the most important thing about getting contracts like this is you get to go out and do so many different things in the community," Wells admitted.

"You get to go out and impact lives. The way I feel about it, I was blessed with that contract to go out and do things. Everybody would say I'm not worth the money and I would totally agree that I'm not worth that contract, but I don't think there is anybody ... but I know what I can do with that contract will far outdo what that contract's worth."

Well hey, at least he realizes it. Although, it's not like he's the only player that's overpaid or realizes it. He just hasn't played up to par to the contract, but really, it's hard to with a contract like that. He isn't unbearably awful or anything. From what I see out of him, he's decent, but you can't be decent with a contract like that.

I'm still very happy to have a guy like Vernon in Toronto though and I wouldn't mind him retiring here. He is very loyal and he is still a good guy to have in the line-up and on the field. He's a great leader too.

Thing was before he signed that monster contract, there were many rumours about top prospects coming to Toronto for him.

Well he was the Jays franchise player back then. It was hard a tough decision but obviously JP made a mistake.
