All the players on our line are really at their primes right now.
Age is there, I agree. But we can worry about filling those needs later. Right now, our future O-Line isn't our biggest issue. Especially if we are in win-now mode.
You're not in win now mode, you're still rebuilding.. Mayhew just took over as the new GM in 2009.. it takes time, see teams like the Ravens, Eagles, Colts, Pats, Packers that are in Win Now mode.. the Lions arent there yet.

Competitively building.
We have enough players in place for our core. We are building to that, while still remaining competitive.

No, heres where you are getting role players mixed in with the core.

Burleson
Vanden Bosch
Corey Williams
are all role players

Cliff Avril is a ok player, it def helped him by having Suh and Vanden Bosch on the same line.. he's not anything to brag about, and he will maybe be a Free Agent this year.
Levy is another role player and the oline is not anything core at all.. They're just there for the time being.

Call 'em what you want to call them lol.
They will all be here for a few more seasons, so I call them a core.
They might not be as good as the others, but still should be mentioned.

A core is a young core of players that you build your team around for seasons to come.. The only players you have that fit that description are the ones I listed.

A core to me is players that have their position locked down, and perform at it well. Young or old, as long as they are producing. Everyone I named produces what they should produce.

So in your logic, Brett Favre was apart of the Vikings core and David Garrard is in the Jags core? What about Fred Taylor, is he apart of the Pats core? Matt Hasselbeck apart of the Seahawks core?

If fans and management didn't have to worry about any of those players mentioned (in terms of needing to find a replacement due to under-performing), then sure.
It's different if your 39, like Favre though. Obviously it's different if the dude is a year off from retirement.

The guys I mentioned still have years in them before we have to worry about replacements.

Theres alot of flaw in your logic, and I know its incorrect.. I'm going to let you believe it though.

Really there isn't lol..
Everyone I named will likely be the starters at their positions for the next 3-4 years (or longer for guys like Levy), unless a major drop-off occurs in their production.

I mean if you wanna call that role-players be my guest. This is an extremely silly thing to argue though.

If they are there for 3-4 years.. then they are stop gap/role players.. not Franchise Players AKA CORE that you build around. In about a year, or maybe even this year.. you could draft KVBs replacement.

Call it whatever. They are currently a part of the core we are building too.

kam is right...
a core is the center, what everything stems from. Think about it, 3-4 years? thats nothing man, if you only want megatron, best and stafford around for 3 years let me know, but I think youd rather have them for 5-6, those are core players. KVB and the like are role players, regardless of whether or not they are around 3 years from now or not, they play their role and are replaceable (even stafford is questionable as a core player because of his inconsistencies)

for example the Bears. Obviously Olsen,Knox,Cutler and Forte are our core players, the entire rest of the offense plays its role or are even just "there" tbh. On defense I wouldnt even say we have any core players, all of our defense is getting old and need to be replaced, and here you would say that Urlacher and Briggs and Peppers are our core on defense, wrong, they were our core, but now are waiting on their replacements.

On topic, I see the Lions winning maybe 1-2 (depending on how the Vikings QB situation plays out) games from our division let alone from other divisions.
