It’s safe to say John Fox is a big Tim Tebow fan
In more than 30 years of coaching, John Fox said Tim Tebow was the only player who ever offered to pick up the tab when they went out for dinner.

In less than 30 minutes of speaking Friday, the new Broncos coach made it clear he’s an even bigger Tebow fan now than he was at draft time.

“The thing that’s impressive about Tebow is that he’s not afraid to be great,” Fox said. “He has as good intangibles as any athlete I’ve ever been around.”

Tebow came by the Broncos building on Thursday to meet with Fox and the coach sounded smitten. Fox also said positive things about Kyle Orton later in his introductory press conference.

“The quarterback situation is better than the one — some of the ones — that I’ve been at,” Fox said. (Translation: Thanks Jimmy Clausen!)

Fox also likes the wideouts: “This may be as good a corps as I’ve been with,” Fox said. (Translation: Thanks Dwayne Jarrett!)

On defense, Fox said wasn’t committing to a 3-4 or 4-3 defense, and was just worried about adding talent.

The mile high air seemed good for the veteran coach, who looked refreshed and energized to be out of Carolina. He mentioned he’d “like to forget” last season.

“I’m extremely competitive, Fox said. “I want to jump back in and erase that.”

Fox sounded like a confident man, one who has been around long enough to know not every coach gets a chance to erase 2-14.

Very, very good news. Then again...given what John Fox just finished dealing with at quarterback, Tim Tebow probably looks like the 2nd coming of Unitas right now.

I remember the Panthers being all over Tebows nuts before the draft. They was interviewing him at all the workouts, and spent near most of their prospect time with him at the Senior Bowl.. So i'm really not shocked that John Fox is going balls deep for Tebow.

People here in Jacksonville love the shit out of Tebow (Excluding me) since hes a hometown guy. Personally, I still don't think hes a NFL QB. I love how people bring up the "HES A WINNER" thing.. but he didn't he go like 1-2 as a starter this year or some shit? He barely beat the damn Texans, and thats just because they collapsed and suck balls.

The Texans suck balls? I guess you haven't watched the Broncos this year so don't try and take away from Tebow. He put us in position to win after the Texan collapse. He's the reason the Raiders didn't absolutely stomp us the second game. He lost the San Diego game but don't forget he ran a 92 yard drive and scored with 26 seconds left. We would've won that game had he been able to find a way in a second time. Not bad for a rookie quarterback in his first three starts.

Yes, the Broncos won because the Texans collapsed.. not because Tebow just won it for them.

He had a QB rating of 58.2 and threw 2 ints vs the Chargers.. thats why you lost.

Really this doesn't mean much -- it just means he's going to have that drive to work Tebow harder because he truly believes the kid can be successful.

I talked about this earlier with a friend who said this doesn't make sense -- why hire him when Elway doesn't like Tebow? I told him thats ignorant -- Elway never said he disliked Tebow, only stated that the kid isn't good. Of course he's not good, he's got a lot of work to do -- I think Elway was impressed with Fox being the coach and believed his belief in Tebow's potential was the perfect fit to make sure Tebow progresses properly.

Tebow had a great game and contributed a lot to the win, collapse or not.

So it had nothing to do with our inability to stop Ryan Matthews? He had a bad game but read where I said he engineered a 92 yard drive with seconds left. This is a dude in his first 3 starts, what more can you ask of him?

Always good for the coach to like your teams future. Obviously, he still has a lot of work to do, but i'm rooting for him to do well. I'd like to see him succeed. No matter the level of success. He's had limited time but we know he has potential. We've seen the potential he has. He's shown some of his capabilities in the limited time he's had. He probably won't be as successful as he was in college, he may not even end up staying at QB in the NFL, but he has potential to do whatever he can right now.

I dont know whats the big deal with giving Tim Tebow a chance at becoming an NFL QB. Everyone is always saying that he wont be a good QB and that he will be awful. Give the guy some playing time and then we will see if he will do well in the NFL. I think he can be a pretty decent QB, a lot of being a QB is mental. Just look at Brady, Rodgers, and Brees.

I agree. Needs to at least be given a chance. With the right players around him and the much needed experience, I think he could become a good QB.

I like Tebow and all, and this may be genuine of Fox, but can you see a coach coming in to a new job on a team who just spent a 1st round pick on the "savior" (both religiously and football-y) and then Fox comes in his fist day on the job and says something like "yeah we need a new QB, this Tebow guy that everyone likes... nope don't like him"

What are yall talking about "Tebow needs a chance" hes getting his chance now, its quite obvious that he will start in 2011.. and if he doesn't then that tells ALOT of what the coaching staff really thinks of him.

I meant like a full season under him with a decent offense around him. You just cant throw a rookie out there with a garbage team, there are so many examples of that not working out. Everyone says "Oh he's going to be a garbage QB." Lets wait and see what he does in the NFL, no one knows exactly what Tebow will become.

Thank you John Fox for starting off on the opposite foot of McDaniels.

Sometimes good QBs make their teams, this year will be Tebows year or bust. Either he does well, or they will find a real Franchise QB. John Fox doesn't have time to really sit and wait and build around Tebow to make sure he turns out well.. Hes going to be thrown to the fire, and if he does well or not, thats how you grade him.
