2 separate stories I read today: "49ers Contact Giants About Perry Fewell" & "Niners Seek Permission to Interview Hue Jackson". As much as I can understand the NFL's policy regarding teams having to interview minority head coaching candidates before making a hire...I don't like it. Fewell and Jackson are great coaches but do either one stand a chance to land this gig? Or are they just checking the boxes? I think the Niners already have their real list of candidates in mind but they are looking to follow the rules by interview a black dude. I don't think its right to use these guys as pawns...

Coincidentally, Mike Singletary was always that black coordinator that got all the interviews for head jobs.

You never know what's up...you know just as well as me what their plans are. What if they did higher one of them? You're calling em out on some speculation.

I am calling them out on what it is.

I would put money on the 49ers NOT hiring Fewell or Jackson. Like I said, they are just trying to get that required minority interview out of the way.

Why not? You said yourself that they're "great coaches".

Although your speculation may be right, but you just pulled it out of nowhere and threw it back at them with no backing evidence. They have a coaching vacancy, they're interviewing what you believe are "great coaches", so why not?

Are the 49ers not suppose to bring them in? It's a rule, you have to regardless..

Most teams just get that minority candidate out of the way. Its why they "contact" or "request permission" from somebody under another team's control. It's pretty obvious, because I'm sure there are plenty of them out there.

The point of AE making this thread is a few things:

1. Every time a team goes through this process a big fucking deal is made by the media about the team interviewing a minority candidate.

2. The way the media puts it, the team is just checking off that list so the NFL doesnt get all up in arms. Thats why AE says the organization probably has a list of other candidates, most likely white candidates, already set up.

3. The guys they contact are locked up by a team already. Thats makes it more difficult for a team to hire them. That way they dont even have to interview the guy but just "try" to interview him.

This is why I had no problem with how Seattle went about hiring Mike Holmgreen back when. If ya'll remember...Seattle hired Holmgreen w/o interview any other candidate & they were fined by the NFL for not violating league policy regarding minority opportunity rules.

White or black, Seattle had their guy, they weren't going to waste anyone's time or play any interviewing games...and they paid for it.

I asked a question b/c you seem to be replying to every single post I make with a smart-ass comment as of late.

Again, get over it.

Locked. Not putting up with the bickering that isn't necessary in these threads, enough is enough.
