A source tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Troy Polamalu (Achilles) could miss the remainder of the regular season.
Polamalu's return hinges on the team's playoff positioning; the Steelers face 1-12 Carolina in Week 16 on three days rest and he won't be brought back in Week 17 against Cleveland if the team has already clinched. The team holds a one game lead over Baltimore and play the reeling Jets this Sunday. IDP owners should wait until after Week 15 before cutting bait, but should already be eyeing the waiver wire for possible replacements. Lawrence Timmons is expected to see an expanded role with Polamalu out and gets a nice boost in value. Dec. 18 - 8:29 am et

Well, it makes the most sense for the Steelers to rest the best defensive player in the NFL, to get him healthy for the playoffs.

Good news for the Jets this weekend too.

While it's great news for the Jets not having to deal with Polamalu, it still won't matter. The Steelers defense will be over all Sanchez, forcing him into mistakes. The Jets will be lucky to score 10 points tomorrow. Sanchez has really been struggling lately, I don't see him bouncing back with a good game @ Pittsburgh.

imo, its a well thought out decision. we need him healthy for the playoffs and if we are already pretty much definitely in the playoffs, why risk a re-injury?

After 4 uncalled interferances, the steelers should have won.b. sanders would have caught that pass for the touchdown had he not been pulled. The refs are biiased against the steelers and the other teams know it and are trying and succeeding to get away with penalties that are blatent and should have been called
