No one ever said that smart one.
I forgot that the other six players in our line-up are minor-league caliber at best...
Please tell me why the <Censored> Youkilis would be batting leadoff.Pedroia hits around .250 hitting leadoff
On OS, someone posted this lineup due to OBP and SLG
1. Youk
2. Drew
3. Crawford
4. Gonzo
5. Pedy
6. Ortiz
7. Ells
8. Salty
9. Tek
Youk has a ridic. high OBPPlease tell me why the <Censored> Youkilis would be batting leadoff.
Not really:I never said that. However, I took your top 3 and matched them.
Id take Crawford over Granderson any day of the week
Id take Ortiz over Posada
Ellsbury and Gardner are about equal.. slight edge to Ellsbury
Drew and Swisher are about equal for me
And off last season's stats, Scutaro and Jeter are about equal.
I would take Martin over Salty, though.. the guy is a joke.
It isn't all about OBP. Its about whos skill sets better suit that part of the lineup. One such skill I expect in a leadoff man is speed, which Youkilis has slightly more than Ortiz. Also, Youk's ability to dirve in runs is more valuable in the 4/5 spot than his ability to get on base when we have other guys who can do that.Youk has a ridic. high OBP
You have to compare positions, comparing by number in the batting order is too inaccurate IMO.Most likely lineups comparison:
1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury> LF Brett Gardner
2. 2B Dustin Pedroia > SS Derek Jeter
3. LF Carl Crawford< 1B Mark Teixiera
4. 1B Adrian Gonzalez>3B Alex Rodriguez
5. 3B Kevin Youkilis = 2B Robinson Cano (Youk is predicted to be slightly better than Cano according to FanGraphs
6. DH David Ortiz> DH Jorge Posada
7. RF JD Drew < RF Nick Swisher
8. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia < CF Curtis Granderson
9. SS Marco Scutaro = C Russell Martin
