Well Beltre is an awful fielder, so moving Youk to third makes us better at the hot corner. This should give us a great corner infield duo. But I agree, we still need to go out and get a corner outfielder like Werth or Crawford, and still need an upgrade at catcher.

And yes Gonzo is a major upgrade over Beltre, and I would rather have Youk at third then Beltre, so we haven't lost much.
Beltre is one of the best defensive 3B in the game...

Not really..... Plus Youkilis is one of the best fielders in the game, so he obviously going to be an upgrade.

Not really? Beltre has always been regarded as one of the best defensive 3B in the league. Youkillis has been a great defensive 1B, but that hasn't translated to 3B.

Not last season. With Seattle yes, but Beltre did not impress me overly much in the field the same way he did at the plate. Youk plays third fine.

No, I know that he's a great player, but he's just not a strong defensive 3B. He's a great defensive 1B and he has a really nice bat, but 3B isn't his forte.

lol Beltre averages like 15 errors a season. Youk averages like 3 to 5. So Youk is definitely a better fielder imo.

Errors can be a flawed stat in terms of telling who is better.. It can be pretty telling but errors don't tell you who has the better range in the field, if you have more range and are more skilled, you'll get charged with errors on plays that other fielders don't even attempt to field because their lack of range.

Not to mention he's playing 1B, so he obviously isn't going to have a lot of errors, most 1B never do.

Yeah that true. I dont watch the red sox so I dont know much about beltre's and youk's range. All i watch in baseball is the tigers. The rest is just highlights lol.

Numerous times last year, I saw Beltre fail to make plays he should have made.

Either way Youk will do fine at third, its not like he has never played the position.

I know he is a two time gold glove winner.....

Saying he was awful was stupid, but I just feel Youk is better.

He's better defensively at 3rd? No way. He may be good at 1st base but that doest mean he's equally as good at 3B

Adrian Gonzalez is more then a "little" upgrade over V-Mart.
good job misreading what I posted.

I said it was a little improvement, not necessarily a little improvement over Martinez. It's a littlei mprovement because they lost Beltre who was a major part of the offense as well. If they still had Beltre I would say they improved a ton.

They just fill the gap they lost while getting a little improvement out of it.
That implies you saying it's a little improvement.. I read what you said.

Youkilis is a very good 3rd Baseman, they wont be missing a beat after moving him and putting Agon at 1st Base. This is a great move either way because Agon has a much better bat than Beltre. Beltre only likes to show up when he needs to get a new contract.....
