That Bronson Arroyo deal is just horrible.

Why? It's not good but it's not terrible either.

11 mil for a guy who's a #3/4 starter at best is bad imo. I understand he eats a lot of innings but still a lot of money.

Also hear we are a front-runner for Werth.
And my friend told me he heard on the radio we are trying to make a play for Hanley Ramirez. However I can't find anything to back that up online.

If we got hanley and werth <<<<<333333. But really if we got both our team would be sick.

Doubt it happens, but if it did I'd start calling Dumbrowski by his proper name.

Free-agent outfielder Carl Crawford may have seen his value increase on Sunday when the Nationals signed Jayson Werth to a seven-year, $126 million contract.

Crawford is young and considered a bigger target than Werth, leading many industry sources to predict that the soon-to-be former Tampa Bay star will see his price tag soar.

He is seeking a contract of up to eight years in length and after the Werth signing the total of such a contract could approach $180 million.

Dodgers non-tendered Russell martin
I hope we can re-sign him. Im not expecting him to go back to being a great player, but even as bad as he's been the past 2 years, there really isnt any other catcher i'd rather have than him that would be possible

only a handful of truly above average catchers
buster, mccann, mauer, vmart, weiters, santana, a few more maybe
Yadier Molina....

The Indians are expected to discuss a long-term extension this offseason with Shin-Soo Choo's agent, Scott Boras.
One of the more underrated players in the game, Choo is coming off two straight 20-20 season where he batted exactly .300 each year. There was an article earlier this offseason in a Korean newspaper where Choo said he'd like to play for a team that won more games, so we'll see if that has any bearing on negotiations. He is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, so the Indians don't have to be in any rush to extend him.
I highly doubt we get a contract.. <Censored> the Nationals for that Werth contract

x2. It was a perfect match for them both. A team who cant sign a legitimate franchise player and a player who was just looking for the most amount of money possible.

Red Sox in the mix for Lee???

The Rangers and the Yankees aren't the only teams that have contacted free-agent Cliff Lee.

The Red Sox have placed a call as well.

"We've talked, that's all I can say," agent Darek Braunecker told WEEI.com.

Not sure I like to hear that. 99% sure it's just to drive up his price..but hopefully it doesn't price him out of the Rangers payroll lol

I have a weird feeling that Lee is just gonna go to the Yankees. They are the much more stable franchise at this time. The Rangers just recently filed for bankruptcy and although they made it to the World Series, they still need to recoup from those previous losses.

The wild card here would be the Red Sox, if they could sweep in and snatch Cliff Lee from the hands of the Yankees it would be a major blow to the Yankees playoff chances because I am really not at all impressed with that rotation, even more so if Pettite doesnt return.

Personally I would rather spend the money on Crawford to improve our outfield. As it is we have strong pitching in Lester, Buchholz and Beckett, so I would rather put it to stronger needs, not that getting Lee would be awful.

^too bad the sox overpaid on lackey, dice-k, and beckett (stupid extension. said it at the time) otherwise the Sox would already have Lee

I wish the Loney/Broxton for Prince trade was true :(

Yeah the Dice J and Lackey contracts are awful. I don't mind the Beckett one, as long as he can return to his pre-2010 form.
