Sources: Padres and Red Sox have agreed to a Gonzalez trade, pending physical -- and perhaps negotiations with the first baseman. We'll see.

Kinda upset that AA didn't try his best on this one. Apparently the Pads don't even get a major leaguer in the deal.

Ive also been reading about this story and they said this pretty much says they arent resigning beltre. I would like the tigers to go after beltre. Would be an upgrade over Brandon Cringe.

How does that even makes sense? lol. Why would they overpay for Inge if he's gonna be warming up the bench?

The only reason why they did bring back because he is a fan favorite but he really isnt that good. Beltre would be better, but the tigers like to keep fan favorites even when they really arent that good anymore.

Inge would be a lot better at 3B because he has a GG caliber defense at third base. The guy is a wizard with the glove. There's no reason why you'd wanna move him to another position. A's are the highest bidders for Beltre right now so I'd say their the front runners for him.

<Censored> Yes.

So this pretty much guarantees that Beltre will not be back. This will also give us sick 3-4-5 hitters. So most likely Youk will play third. Adrian will be first and Ortiz DH.

Go get Werth or Crawford AA.

Any deal the Sox make w/o giving up Iglesias or Kalish is a steal.

But don't sell the haul the Pads get short. Obviously, especially right now, they aren't getting even value back but Kelly is going to be a great pitcher. Now has the luxury of pitching in a pitcher's park when he makes it to the big leagues. Rizzo projects to be a Gonzalez-type player. Great defense and good hitting. And Fuentes is a speedy OF with a good swing.

All three are in the top 20 of our system. Kelly and Rizzo are one and three, respectively.

The Red Sox have a deal in place with the Padres to acquire first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, according to sources.

Boston received permission from Major League Baseball to negotiate with Gonzalez on a new contract and he could take a physical with the team as soon as Saturday.

The Padres would not receive any established major league players in the trade, but it's likely the Red Sox would include their top pitching prospect, Casey Kelly.

It is great to see Daniel Bard not going anywhere, because he was reportedly rumoured at first to be in the Gonzo trade.

Damnit... I wanted the Cubs to get him for the 2012 season. Now what does the first basemen class next off-season look like? Albert Pujols (who will either re-sign with the Cardinals or go to the Yankees LOL) and Prince Fielder? I guess we have to hope for Fielder's fat ass...

Damn kinda shocked that Iglesias is not part of the deal. Rosenthal said he was gonna be one of key pieces of the deal.
