EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Nets have assigned Terrence Williams to their NBA Development League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

General Manager Billy King announced the move on Friday, saying the second-year guard will benefit from playing for the Springfield Armor while he is on the team's inactive list.

The Nets put Williams on the inactive list Tuesday for "repeatedly violating team policy." The team's sixth man missed Tuesday's home game against Atlanta and Wednesday's game in Boston. King said he discussed the move with coach Avery Johnson.

"I feel the best course of action for Terrence and the team at this time is for him to play in the D-League," King said. "He is currently on the inactive list and this move will allow him to play until he is once again placed on the active list. There is no timetable on his return to the active list, and Terrence's future status will be addressed at the appropriate time."

Williams was selected 11th overall by New Jersey in the first round of the 2009 draft. The Louisville product has appeared in 86 career games, averaging 8.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He was averaging 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists this season.

When Williams was suspended earlier this week, Johnson declined to offer more details, but said the situation had been brewing for a while.

"It's something we've dealt with for the past two or three weeks. I don't know if he clearly understands what we're trying to do," Johnson said at the time.

Williams was benched for a game last season for missing a team bus.

I swear that some of you have IQ's that would compete with that of a fruit fly.

He was sent down for behavioral reasons, he is still one of the more talented players in the league.

WTF? I've never heard of one of the most talented players in the league being sent down to the D-League...

He's not bad. Not one of the best though. And yes he did get sent down for behavioral problems.

Still, if you're "one of the more talented players in the league," you aren't gonna get sent down to the D-League, because you have behavior issues.

I'm not saying Terrence Williams doesn't have potential and isn't talented, because he is, but calling him one of the best in the league is pretty silly now.

Yeah, I agree with you. But I guess sending him to the D-League could be a form of punishment until he gets his act together.

Lol it's a stretch to even say he is talented. Isn't even top 100 as far as I'm concerned. The fuck has this kid done to prove himself lol.

I guess we've got a different definition of talented... I consider James Johnson talented... He has the nature talent and skills to be good, just hasn't put it together in the NBA (same goes for Terrence Williams).

I consider it talent when they put it together in the NBA lol.
If that was the case, Darko would be one of the most talented players in the league. Just doesn't work like that lol.
Perhaps potential would better fit your description.

If they're having that much of a problem with T-Will they should just deal him. I'm sure he contribute well on another team

Why deal him when his value is at an all-time low?

Williams has contributed at an NBA level already Rip. He's dropped 27 points already, has several 13 rebound games. A 14 assist game...etc.

Yeah, but the same happened to Al Jefferson, and he's doing fine now with the Jazz. But thats a bad comparison.

He's shown potential. But look at his numbers this and last year, nothing special yet.

Terrence Williams is doing it all on purpose to get traded from that decrepit place they call New Jersey and one of the worst teams in the league.

The Bricks have a .500 record with the easiest schedule in the league so far.

NJ at least has a strong education system and is one of the wealthiest states in the nation.

For the record, the Bricks have the worst record over the last decade (Yes, even worse than the Clippers)
