In today's game, who would you label as the best pure playmaker?
I know many will say Crysby, but in all honesty I have to go with Paul Statsny. Dude has some sick hands, and some of the goals he creates are just crazy.

Playoffs aside, because that doesn't relate to his playmaking skill, I say Joe Thornton. If he can get Jonathan Cheechoo 50+ goals, he can do it for anyone. I was going to be a bit biased and say Savard but I went with Thornton anyway; Savard is top 5 though.

Also, next time you get a chance, watch David Krejci. He'll be on this list in a couple years.

Sedin Twins. Daniel is more of a scorer but they both excelent passers. They make other players look great.

I agree with almost every statement you made. I don't think Savard will be the same if he does actually come back this season. Krejci is great.

They turned Burrows into a 30+ goal scorer. They for sure deserve to be on the list somewhere.

Have to agree with the Sedins, as well as Pavel Datsyuk. Every year Datsyuk has 60+ assists, and has great skill.

Also watch Tyler Bozak, not to be a homer or anything, but he has some serious skill.

Good point by Baggs. Cheechoo just fell off the map though.

With Baggs point, I would want a healthy Savard any day, so IMO you are not being bias. Easily one of the most underrated players in the game.

Pavel Datsyuk is the best set up man in the league. Best playmaker has to come down to Ovechkin. This literally violates defenders on his way to the net. All his highlight reel goals and he makes the sh*t look so easy.

By playmaker they mean passing and setting up goals. Definitely not Ovechkin...
