On LeBron talking about race being an issue in the criticism he’s received:

“It’s like watching a movie. Just when you think it couldn’t get any stupider, it gets more stupid.”

On LeBron continuing to make bad decisions:

“Howard I’m telling you. Sometimes you just say he’s making bad decisions and you’re like okay, he’s gonna get it together. Then he makes more bad decisions. The thing that’s interesting about LeBron, I don’t think Magic, Michael, and myself, we said we wouldn’t have did it. That’s not a criticism. We were asked a question. I don’t want to play with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, or Michael, I want to beat them. That’s strictly basketball. The only criticism I’ve heard about LeBron and it was my biggest criticism, that decision thing was just stupid. It was stupid. The second thing when they all came out there dancing around on stage, that was silly. That’s the only thing I’ve heard LeBron get criticized about. That has nothing to do with race. That’s what makes this last thing so stupid. That’s stupid. The only criticism of LeBron has been the decision and the one hour of our life that we can’t have back. And ESPN, oh my God. Oh my God. To go down to training camp and report everyday is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. I’m watching yesterday and one of the guys actually said LeBron looked fierce in practice. I’m like fierce in practice? What the hell does that mean? He was fierce in the second day of training camp. You’re like come on man, he really didn’t say that did he. This summer with LeBron and all the stuff that went on is like a bad movie. You just can’t make this stuff up.”

On the catering to LeBron:

“No question. They do realize the Lakers have won the last two championships. If you’re going to cater to somebody at least cater to the guys who have actually won the last two championships. They have definitely crossed the line and this is unprecedented. This is unprecedented ass kissing."

Yeah, that whole race thing was a dumb statement.

I still don't know why everyone is so pissed at LeBron, who cares that he left his team to go for a championship, unless your a Cav fan that is.

Surprised Barkley was able to stop eating long enough to say all that.

It's his giant ego. His ego was always know about but he didn't show it and how much it needed to be stroked before this whole "decision" sh*t. The way he dealt with it was completely unprofessional and egotistical.

Also props to Charles for telling it like it is...again.

He's one of the few on TV who will say what ever is on his mind at any time.

Charles is always being real as <Censored> and you guys that don't appreciate his realness should probably consider thinking more in depth about him and about the stuff he says because quite frankly, he's one of the few analysts who speaks the truth just about all the time although usually whatever he says is looked down upon or like taboo basically. Charles really is one of the greatest we'll ever see in the analysis game.

This is the ###### up <Censored>.

Kobe just said he would beat LeBron one on one in his sleep and it hasn't gotten a lick of media coverage. If LeBron said this, it's frontpage news and would be talked about for a week.

LeBron doesn't open his mouth very often, the media just obsesses over him and looks way too much into the statements that he makes and eventually twists them into negatives.

How in the world do you use the MultiQuote thing? I've clicked all 3 replies, not sure what to do after that...Anyhow...

@TYO, happened a few days ago, Yahoo's a bit behind, but what I meant by media coverage is the sports channels and <Censored>. Not a thing about it that I've seen on TV, whereas LeBron's statement was all over the entire planet.

@Danny, never said you did, it's just you talk <Censored> about LeBron and tell him to just shut his mouth, when he has hardly said anything this entire off-season, aside from The Decision and the interviews proceeding it. Kobe talks more than LBJ does, but the media doesn't bring any of it up.

@Zig, completely debatable, but I think LBJ would win due to his size. He's got 2 inches and like 45 pounds on him, he'd just body him.

LeBron's stuff is more talked about because he comes off as an idiot. The guy thinks race played apart in criticism of him because he made that dumb ass 1 hour long show.

He never said he was a major part, but stereotypes and racism play apart in everything, whether we like it or not.

Actually it played very little in this if at all, LeBron just last year was probably the most loved athlete in Sports, never mentioned race then.

i want to say a couple things in regards to this thread

1. Charles always has an opinion, but he never roots for a team to lose. He'll pick against them and call them names, but he never roots against them. looks like he'll be doing that with Miami this season

2. About Kobe. Kobe never wants to start stuff. he ussually gives conservative answers and his post game, half time interviews are like a tape recorder. we all know what he's going to say. so for him to say what he did about Bron 1 on 1. wow. im actually surprised by something Kobe said. i'd take his word for it :D

3. I still dont understand the race thing. I've tried to look for a way race came into play, but I cant. I dont even know why CNN asked that. The media now has a love/hate relationship with LeBron when before it was mainly love. so what? there are plenty of media that hate Favre and love Favre for example
