Laughing Stock to Lombardi
DannyBroski
After week 2 the Lions were 0-2 and they were a laughing stock in the National Football League and after an incredible 17-0 run to the Super Bowl finishing with a record of 14-2 in the regular season who's laughing now? Head Coach Jim Schwartz state's it perfectly, "We have a tough football team here, we have no quitters on this football team. I knew if we worked hard we could hoist the Lombardi to become Champions and we did."
Pretty much every NFL Fan had written off the joke that was the Detroit Lions after week 2, but during week 3 the emergence of Matthew Stafford was the spark the Lions needed. Stafford finished with 37 Touchdowns and 4 Interceptions winning the NFL MVP Crown over the 2 time defending MVP Peyton Manning, some say Stafford didn't deserve the MVP award and say that Jahvid Best deserved it. Jahvid Best finished with 1800 yards rushing and 17 Touchdowns rushing.
During week 2 the Detroit Lions were torched by the Philadelphia Eagles led by Michael Vick as they were laughing at the Lions as the Eagles beat them, but who is laughing now? The Lions met the Eagles in the NFC Championship game and QB Matthew Stafford threw a game winning TD pass to Calvin Johnson with 0:00 seconds on the clock to win 27-24. Ndamukong Suh sacked Michael Vick 5 times and he had this to say after the game "I said to the guys after the game we started 0-2 if we face these <Censored>ers again we are gonna beat the living <Censored> out of them and make them <Censored> and moan."
During the Super Bowl the Lions faced the Baltimore Ravens, the same Baltimore Ravens that had embarrassed the Lions in 2009 48-3. "We were so motivated to beat the hell out of those guys, we wanted to abuse them physically and mentally." said Calvin Johnson who won Super Bowl MVP. Calvin Johnson caught 11 balls for 216 yards and 3 TDs as the Lions embarrass the Baltimore Ravens 52-0.
It is safe to say Hell has frozen over. the Detroit Lions are Super Bowl Champions, Matthew Stafford is NFL MVP, and Calvin Johnson won Super Bowl MVP.
