Eagles Name Vick Starter

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles coach Andy Reid says Michael Vick will be the team's starting quarterback.

Reid made the decision Tuesday, a day after saying Kevin Kolb would start Sunday at Jacksonville. Kolb missed the last six quarters because of a concussion, and Vick played well in his absence.

Vick threw for 175 yards and one touchdown and ran for 103 yards in the 27-20 season-opening loss to the Packers. He had 284 yards passing and two TDs in a 35-32 win at Detroit on Sunday.

Kolb started two games in his first three seasons before he became the team's No. 1 quarterback after Donovan McNabb was traded to Washington. Kolb struggled in the first half against Green Bay.

Look at it this way. The Eagles will win the division. The only competition they have is the Skins, but the Eagles are better then them. If they win the division, they'll most likely get to at least round 2 of the playoffs (weak first game) if not further. If that happens they would definitely re-sign Vick. And Vick would want to resign. Why the hell would he want to leave? He'd be what...31? He obviously wouldn't want to learn another offense and get chemistry with more WR's. So he want's to be there, and they will want him there.

I know that's a lot of ifs, but they are safe ifs.

I'd bet on the Cowboys having a better record then the Eagles by the end of the year. Kolb is the QB of the future, they ran McNabb out of town and gave him an extension based off two games... Gotta let him play.

I'm not sold on Kolb but IDK if thats just me. I don't see him being anything more than an average QB but thats because I'm not a fan of his skillset. He has a nice supporting cast though and that may help him out.

I just think Vick is a better QB for them right now and it does no good to have him on the bench

I'm not basing this off Vick. I'm basing this off the Eagles team against the other teams in their division.
The Cowboys and Skins are both one dimensional teams. Sure Dallas is 2nd in passing offense and Washington is right there at 7th too. But they both cannot run the ball. Washington is dead last in rushing and Dallas tied for 28th, and they are only 6 and 8 rushing attempts behind the Eagles respectively.

Meanwhile Philly is 2nd in rushing with a 6.5 yards average on 48 attempts.Philly is only 17 in passing, but they played Kolb for almost half a game and only had 24 yards, and Aaron Rodgers and the packers are right above them at 16, so it doesn't bother me.
