Sidney Rice has undergone hip surgery and is expected to keep him out for half of the regular season.
No specific timetable has been given, but the previous report indicated that he would miss half of the season. Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune speculates that Rice's contract situation is the reason the surgery was delayed, and that he elected to go ahead and have the procedure because he's making just $550,000. Rice is now a mid-to-late round fantasy roster stash while Bernard Berrian receives a major bump in value. Percy Harvin will open the season as the Vikings' starting flanker. Our low-end QB1 expectations for Brett Favre don't change. Aug. 24 - 9:23 am et

OUCH. Not good news at all for the Vikes. I now see why they went and picked up Javon.
