Richard Jefferson will re-sign with the Spurs on Wednesday.

Details of the new deal aren't available, but Jefferson's salary will be well below the $15.2 million he would have made he had not opted out of the final year of his contract.

Jefferson's agent, Todd Eley, explained last month that the forward preferred long-term security over the uncertainty of becoming a free agent next season.

Damn

1 of 2 things happened here...

Either RJ was really more worried about long term security... which I doubt

or he thought he would get alot more from someone else that didnt get LeBron, Wade or Gay lol

Or maybe he was giving the Spurs a break and was willing to just sign a longer deal worth less yearly. He's a multi millionaire, he can afford to take a pay cut.

he probably took the pay cut so they can bring splitter over without hitting the luxury tax.

Good move, though Jefferson's game isn't nearly the same as it once was.

You have got to be kidding me. He opted out because he thought he would get more money, not to save the Spurs some money.

Yeah I would lean towards that too.

I would believe the other side more if there werent all the reports of him being "frustrated" with the Spurs.

I think he expected to make more, didnt get a deal he liked money wise and decided to stay with the Spurs since their a contender instead of going to a team with question marks.
