Imagine the things the US could do if there was some regulation to cut the salary of sports players...

Maybe the national debt could be reduced o_O

WTF don't get mad at a man for trying to get as much money as possible. You're telling me in his position you'd be like "hey no i don't want another $30,000,000, thanks for the offer though"

Actually, in his position, honestly I'd be fine if they gave me less...but I wouldn't ask for less. I'd take what they gave me.

He'd be crazy not to accept it, but it could be used for better things

I said "I'd be fine if they gave me less..."

I wouldn't personally ask for more or tell him to ask for more. What he does is what he does. I wouldn't tell him, "Yo, get me more money."

Don't see how you can really blame players these days. It's just the way the business and markets changed. Players contracts get higher as the years go on, not much we can do about it.

Players just aren't going to start taking millions less because they just love the game lol. Call them greedy, but most of us would do the same.

ALL OF US WOULD TAKE THE MONEY.

Part of being the best player in the game, making top dollar. The Texas Rangers gave A-Rod a ridiculous contract once upon a time and it all went from there. A-Rod isn't the only player with a disgusting contract but yet we continue to use him as THE example when it comes to overpaid athletes.

I don't get it, I wish people would stop being such haters. I wish I had that kind of money, I don't, but even if A-Rod took a $500K salary, our country would still be dead-ass broke.

Yeah overpaying our athletes has not a damn thing to do with how much money we owe in debt lol.

At the time of signing his contract with the Rangers, he was the best player in the game.
I'm assuming that's what he meant lol.

It kind of does when you think of how that money could be used...

A-Rod doesn't need to get paid more than entire teams.

How could we use it? We would still be trillions of dollars in debt.

And no he doesn't, but he needs to be paid that money to remain in NY, and to keep him away from higher market clubs. Might not be right, but it's the truth.

What professional athletes make has nothing to do with our National debt or Wall Street for that matter.

YOu people think the Yankees blow their money...the Federal Government makes them look frugal as f***

Good for him he deserves whatever he gets. As one of my professors would say,

"Your worth as much as you can negotiate."
