AP - The Eagles have dealt this year’s fifth-round pick to the Broncos, which is sending tight end Tony Scheffler to the Lions, who will trade linebacker Ernie Sims to Philly.

The Eagles announced the three-way deal in a statement Monday, three days before the NFL draft, according to an Associated Press report.
I like the idea of giving Matty Franchise another valuable option. Linehan likes to use 2 TE sets, so Scheffler and Pettigrew should be a great tandem out there. And will also help open up the running game.

Only problem is that we lose Ernie Sims, who isn't that great, but we still need a LB to replace him. Many are saying we already have a deal in place to replace him, either via trade or signing Keith Bulluck.

Either way I like this deal, and the aggressiveness that Mayhew is showing.

When I saw Scheffler against the Giants he was very impressive and can really run fast for a TE. I like the deal for the Lions.

Yeah, they got a fair return but they still had to give up Simms. Philly only gave up a 5th rounder and filled a need they would have had to address in the draft. They wouldn't have gotten anyone close to as good as Simms in the 5th.

Great trade for the Eagles
Ernie Sims still has the potential to be a great backer

I heard a rumor that Detroit acquired Scheffler because they plan on trading him to Washington for Haynesworth. But Washington keeps insisting on us taking Portis and his fat contract too.

This is the first deal that they have made, that I'm not on board for. Scheffler is good, but Sims is more valuable to the team. We already have Pettigrew who we need to get playing time to help grow, and we already got Burleson to help him. They need to keep any solid defensive player they got.

Thirty-nine. That’s how many players Matt Millen drafted from 2002-06 as the Detroit Lions’ president.

How many are left after today’s trade?

One.

And that lone player is safety Daniel Bullocks, a second-round pick in 2006 who has missed two of the last three seasons with a serious knee injury and might not play for the Lions again.
To be honest, I've never liked Sims. He is undersized and overrated in my books. And he didn't fit in with Cunningham's defense according to the radio and "experts." lol.

Scheffler in my books is a good addition. Another good option for Matty, he is very solid, and still relativity young.

I don't see us dealing Tony for Haynesworth and Portis. That would kill us CAP wise for a while lol. And that would mean no Suh :/ lol.

But either way, I still like this deal. Hopefully we should see a signing of Keith Bulluck within the next few days.

We are racking up on more picks, I'm gonna miss Scheff but it is too bad he didn't fit in McDaniels system.

Keep racking up those 5ths...they'll work wonders hahaha

Honestly, though, with McDaniels being a Belichick boy, he probably has some ideas for his team.

Wow really. I dont understand why the Broncos just got rid of their #1 TE, and they just got rid of their #1 WR last week. What in the world are they doing? Broncos got NOTHING for Scheffler. This is stupid.

Scheff was going to be on the benched either way, plus after last season him and McDaniels don't see eye to eye

woo, i love sims. plus the eagles have turned LB's with less talent than sims into solid players.

i think he will thrive in philly
